Check this out, I've redone the styling of it, so tell me what you think:

If you're wondering why I did it now rather than later, it's because the older layout used tables. Switching the design to something like this at a later stage would take a lot more work. If you like it, then it'll stay, and if you don't, well I have a backup.

Note that I have not uploaded anything yet, so this screenshot is all there is of the new style.

Great work !

I prefer the first one, more organized. plus, you can use the spare space one the sides to put picture of the machine.

Any other opinions? I'm getting mixed responses from people I ask outside of this site.

Well, I'm just going to go with layout number 1 then. I'll take your suggestion for putting the images on the side.

Got another update up and running. This one has support for multiple displays, RAM and GPUs. See an example for yourself here:

Just a thought: I think for the "Release Date" section you should put the actual release date so users know how new or how old the notebook chassis and components are.

Well, that I suppose is for the person that creates the laptop to decide. I have no idea when the 3438 was released, and that's the only one I made on there.

Also, that brings me to another point. Whoever is adding all the laptops at the moment, there isn't much point. Yes, you can add them to test it out, but there's no need to add loads of them at the moment. You see, when the database needs to be changed, the only way for me to change it remotely is to delete the tables, and then recreate them with the new fields. At the moment, there isn't any other way. Unfortunately, that means that when I have to change the database, all the current stuff in there gets wiped. There are exceptions, such as RAM, which are recreated automatically when it does the wipe. Just thought I'd let you know that, just in case you wonder why they disappear.

Yeah I know, I was just testing it out

Seems pretty good at the moment, keep up the good work.

You will have to include the new P-M 780.
I think this needs a STICKY, as it should be so helpfull to everyone

Just a short note to mention I had not forgotten about this project. Unfortunately have been quite busy with work these past few weeks. Will address some of the points and issues raised when I have a bit more time, but thus far the progess looks very good.

Also wanted to mention there have been a number of server issues these past few weeks - a failed hard drive, a complete OS/software reinstall, now a bit of bad ram, etc. An upgrade is planned for this evening at 11:00 PM EDT, though the downtime should be minimal.

One of the benefits however is a newer version of MySQL has been installed (v 4.1.10a as opposed to 4.0.17 previously) which should make it easier to implement a bit of the original coding structure should you decide to revert to such.

Ah, I wondered where you'd got to. I've been busy too, so I haven't been able to do much. However, I've made a set of tools (in PHP) which should allow for very easy backups/restores of the database, which'll help when the site is complete. It effectively allows checkpointing. I haven't uploaded that yet though.

Good to see you again anyway.
