Weird

I just got back my 9300(screen replacement) and noticed that the BIOS was A02 rather than A03 which is what it originally was before the screen replacement. My screen is a samsung and HAD alittle light leakage with BIOS A02. I then flashed the bios to A04, I was bored and I noticed something about the screen. There seems to be more light leakage and alittle more sparkle.

No, Im not full of it. Its true. Though it may not be that big of a deal, its still evident.

Just a heads up.

Comments?

Thanks for the heads up. I will not flash my bios. My screen is almost perfect now with A02.

I don't know about that bud, the bios-flash shouldn't have anything to do with your screen, might just be you, but either way, I updated to A04 and my screen is fine.

How does a BIOS update affect leakage or sparkles? ::boggle::

Bios has nothing to do with screen quality...

Thats exactly what I thought. I didnt think that bios would have anything to do with the screen. Come look for yourself. Im not full of it.

Also, why would dell change the bios back to A02????

I know. I feel the same way but all I know is when I first powered the lappy on, I noticed "Oh, the light leakagehas really improved."

Then after the bios flash I was "woah, how did the bios do that??"

lol... more sparkle madness...

I updated from A02 to A04. My screen is exactly the same as before.

The only way I could buy this is if the BIOS update increased the maximum brightness setting of your screen, since light leakage is a physical defect.

The new XPS2 with LG screen that I received today simply rocks.

Yeah, it doesnt really matter that much.

My replacement still as a slight sparkle and some light leakage. im thinking about another replacement but i kinda dont want to because its a pain

Like Reaver said the light leakage is a physical defect originating from the "bulbs" on the bottom & top of your display, hence updating the bios could in no way directly affect your light leakage. The brightness etc. is a different matter though.
