8790 locking up all the time

Thread Starter
Back in May my computer was hard locking every hour on the hour while playing World of Warcraft. I desided to open it up and give it a cleaning, which it needed badly. I also got AC, and things were really working well, until a week ago when it has gone back to hard locking while playing World of Warcraft. Usually it will do it after playing 4 hours. I'll reboot and then can usually get a few more hours out of it before another lock. As far as gaming goes, I only play WoW, and usually I only use it for web surfing. Today I wanted to rip a CD into iTunes and after 5 songs, it locked up. I rebooted, started up iTunes again and starting ripping from where I left off and again another lock up after 5 songs. I took it apart and its clean as a whistle. The warrenty has run out, so its not an automatic send it away and see what they think. I spent a lot of money on this thing (over $3500 after all was said and done), and I obviously didn't get my money's worth. Anyone have any suggestions before I do something rash to it?

Try searching on this forum on where to apply Artic Silver 5. I have done it to mine, on the cpu .
You have to remove the bottom panel access door to the cpu, then remove the heatpipe-heatsink from the cpu ( notice the little numbers which is the order to remove and tighten the screws down in. Remove the existing heat pad material on both the top of the cpu and the underside of the heatsink plate surface, clean with alcohol until very clean and flat. Then apply AS5 to both surfaces and then reattch the heatsink-heatpipe to the cpu and reattach the lower cover. Should help alot.

Also, contact Sager support via email, provide your serial number for the laptop, and let them know what your bios and firmware numbers are ( the white text at the boot screen ). They can then possibly provide you an updated bios, and or firmware to activate the FN+F10 turbo fans which you can turn on if things might get warm running a game or application. Its free of charge as they did it for me.
