Get a life and a gf!

He called us NERDS!?!?!?!?
HE CALLED US NERDS ON A WEB FORUM?!?!?!?!
HE CALLED US NERDS ON THE INTERNET?!?!?!??!

I assume that you have the lowest speced Dell laptop that there is since the only thing that you do with it is word processing and internet surfing and therefore you have nothing to do on a gaming computer forum. (gaming requires powerful computers you know).

If you're looking for the mom & pop word processing computer forum you're on the wrong website.

Thread Starter
To be fair to Dell, if you looked at the Customer Service forums before it was shut down, it was filled with things like "I am going to Sue Dell." It was probably easier to just shut down the forum than try to keep up with all of it.

NBF would probably do something similar if things got out of hand like they do over at the Dell forums.

Send out the midgies!

The forums are up and running.

and Redphyve is right...this is so old. If it wasnt for the two over the top fanboys we'd actually be able to discuss this, but I dont feel like getting into an argument with people who would take a 10 year old 350mhz alienware over a Gen 5, just to show everyone how hardcore fans they are. I wanna order myself an AW too...but please...stop the non sense.

Hammer Im not a huge Dell lappy fan...but a 2.13ghz PM 2GB DDR2 and a 6800 ultra go in an XPS 2 is fast as hell.

It is true that Dell got an exclusive with the 6800 Ultra, but you still end up with a crap computer with a 6800 Ultra. Kinda like a blown Hemi in a Yugo.

are you aware of how powerful the MR9800 is? it is about twice as fast as the MR9700. in the Aug2004 edition of PC Gamer they reviewed an alienware Area-51m with 3.4ghz p4, 1gb of ram, and a MR9700...in 3dmark03 it scored 3394...right out of the box my Inspiron 9100, which is basically a cheaper xps, scored ~6500 with the same settings. but yeah, you are right, it by no stretch of the imagination outperforms an alienware...

you really should look at things without your fanboy goggles on...i have nothing to say against alienware except what are cold, hard facts...and i have nothing to say but good things about my experience with dell and the quality of the product i bought...

Part of the problem seems to have stemmed from Jeff Jarvis, a columnist on the San Francisco Examiner, who summed up his anger in a letter to a Dell VP, saying: "This machine is a lemon. Your at-home and complete care service is a fraud. Your customer service is appalling. Your product is dreadful. Your brand is mud."
You know, I am not a brand specific person. I will go with what I think is best, and will look for quality/value wherever I can. I have a Dell Dimension 8400 w/ a 3.4GHz P4/HT, and 2GB RAM, and all the rest of the Bells and Whistles (For a steal from the military's shopping website AAFES) and have not had a single problem. I have had nothing but fantastic experiences from Customer Support, the 2 times that I have had to call them in the last 2 years. My wife has a friend who bought a new Dell Dimension 2400 just after I got mine, and she could not get the thing to work right. ( Part of her problem stems from her two young sons who try to hack the planet) But what I am trying to get at is that there may be extenuating circumstances these people who complain about systems, not just Dell, HP, Apple, AW etc. Maybe they bought lower end components (Celeron Processors), or it could be simply a case of bad luck. Who knows? it could be that they are part of the group that call themselves 'haters': people who have to complain about everything. Anyway, that's enough of my soapbox. Namaste'!
