Sager 5660 Booting from an External Firewire Hard Disk instead of IDE

Thread Starter
Guys any of you knows if there's any chance of booting off from an external firewire hard disk instead of the normal IDe channel from the mobo.
I assume there has to be some option within the Machine bios where you can choose booting from any other available ports such as firewire or USB 2.0 <<
thanks!!

Even if you could, I don't think you would really want to, after you found out how "fast" your OS loaded from the external HD. As far as I know, it's not a good idea to run apps, especially OSes from an external HD, firewire, usb 2.0, or otherwise.

I'm also interested in this....firewire might not be the ideal peak transfer rate interface but a qucik 7200 rpm drive would (I'd think) perform better over firewire than the laptops internal would due to the huge difference in random seeks.....now If I could just cram a 64 bit u160 card in there somehow and get the laptop to run my x15....then we'd be talking
