has anyone tried this? does the ultra's cooler even fit in the 9300 case? any power/heat constraints that could make this not work?

1) Not that I am aware of.
2) Yes. They are the same chassis.
3) It should work fine.
Note the heatsink only comes with the ultra card. You cannot buy it separatly.

if you've been following the "why games reboot" thread, i've gotten a replacement 6800U from dell thinking it was a bum gpu. happens to not to be as the new one didn't fix the problem and also creates a buzzing sound... related thread somewhere on this board about that.

i'm getting a new mobo/ac adapter today, but if that fails, the tech said they might just replace the entire system. i'm thinking about asking for credit to buy a 9300.... which i'll frankenstein... pinmod, as5, 6800U heatsink on 6800NU.

at the same time, i'm thinking about washing my hands of dell and trying one of the clevo clones... probably not AW however since there seems to be a new problem thread every few days. HS has caught my eye since they offer cool paint jobs.

i'm kinda wanting the amd based clevo... seems to have best of both worlds... good general computing power + good gaming power... less heat & power consumption than the p4, but neither as good as the pm. also it's 64 bit and dual core compatible.

only problem is that the cheapass in me compels me to stick w/ dell.
