Hi all-
I have a Dell 700m that I just got a new power brick for, which has, gasp, a 3 prong plug. I am trying to wrap my head around this - why? Its a laptop - as portable, it will always have a floating ground! Seems silly in my opinion.
One of the reasons I ask - I have an APC universal power adapter that is a 2 prong adapter. Now, it does plug into most dells, but not this on, so I have to fashion a new plug for it. I have the 3 cables, plus, minus, ground - to throw on to a 2 prong, plus and minus. The simple solution is to just ditch the ground, rather as if I had the original dell power brick and put a no ground plug asapter on the back. Its a laptop, for crying out loud, I do not think it should matter...
However, I would like to get opinions prior to starting my little experiment.
Thanks all
Eric
