On a totally unrelated subject, Penguin1257, how did you add 12% off to the 33% off deal from dell for your XPS2?
None of those are usually stackable like that.

Unless you buy from student which allow you to stack 2 - 12% depending on the warranty you choose. I could be wrong which method he used but it works for me.

Well I'm also a student, and the last time I tried stacking those two deals, it wouldn't work with the student discount...

Luke,

I can hold out until September 20, but just barely. Does your GUT and experience give you some feeling that this may be realistic?

I have been waiting since May to place an order for a workstation notebook. At first, I saw 01 August, then August and now September. With XP 64 and the 100GB 7200 RPM hard drives, 2 out of 3 isn't too bad. However, it would be a shame to invest $6K or $7K now with the dual core just over the horizon.

If I knew it would go into mid-October or November, I would order the D900T w/ P4 670 this week. I am to the point where I cannot work effectively (rendering) with my present Dell I8500.

The schedule I have up is when it is supposed to finish testing if no other problems arise, this is not when they will be shipping. After they finish testing is normally when we would be putting up specs... and maybe taking preorders. It is very possible that we won't see the first round ship out until beginning of Oct.

Why did i have to find out this information right after i purchase my xps?. *sigh* this is the exactly same thing that happened when i bought the Sager 8790 a year ago. 3 Months later the 9860 came out!

That will teach you not to wait for ever! That is the problem with waiting for the next best thing to come out... once it does there's a new next best thing on the horizon.

But for the foreseeable future, how much better can it get than something like the D900K with XP 64, 100GB 7200GB hard drives and dual core processors?

How about a Socket 940 dual-core with ATI 800XT PE?

Actually i didnt wait for ever. When i found out about the Sager 8790, i bought it right away. When i got a great deal on the XPS2, i bought it right away. It's more like i found out information later so i'm always behind on things.

I bet when i'm ready to sell the xps2 and get a new system, i will buy the D900K and that will change within a couple of months.
