That we can, and might soon will. Always something in the works , I will let you guys know if anything pans out.

Both a and g transmit at 54Mbps, but g has superior range, b is the slower one at 11Mbps.

Yeah, got me on that one. Stupid mistake. I was thinking of the Atheros SuperAG technology.

So now, my question to PCT. If I decided to purchase a d900t, do I buy from Clevo or you?

Your decision not ours . Pick whom ever best suits you to purchase from.
Thanks for the response.
From what I've read, I have gathered that you come by good report. I prefer to buy from you but on your site there's no Clevo d900T offered. And on Clevo's site, it's all garbarly gook.
Before I purchase this machine, I would need some help determining which components to get.
The D900T is the Sager 9890 on the PCT site.

...Wonder what's goin' on at the Alienware site. They keep moving the "estimated" shipping date, on the 7700, further back. Hopefully they're trying to play it safe by overestimating the release! (just using them as a guideline as to when I can expect to, finally, order one from PCT)
Damn, just noticed that a 7800 GTX in that notebook could delay shipment for...well,

Alienware Auroraâ„¢ m7700

Does the price of lower processor change e.g. Athlonâ„¢ 64 3000+ when a new faster processor comes out e.g. Athlon 64 X2 4800+?

So that If you plan to buy a lower processor , its better to wait for the higher speed ones???

(I noticed this trend during the time of 386's and pentium... so I don't know if it is applicable to all... )

The guys at PCTorque are refreshingly unassuming, but those of us who don't work for PCT can tell you they are the best place to purchase your computer from. I am a noob to the forums but not to PCT or laptops. They are knowledgeable and in my experience, you won't find better service. Keep in mind you wouldn't even be reading these excellent posts if it weren't for them! Soon you'll be able to get what you're looking for from them. Hang in there until then, you will be glad you did. I waited patiently for the system I wanted, and I'm glad I did... can't wait 'til it gets here!
So when is PCT gonna release this baby?? I haven't seen any news in the last several pages of posts here
post #753 of 1260
Why didn't you order the 7200 speed HD?
Well now, I need some guidance here. I'm trying to fill out the customization form for a 9890. Would it be better to get the wuxga and if the resolutions are too much, just reduce them in display properties? Which is better, 100gb-7200rpm or 100gb-5400rpm-SATA and why? What is the difference between 8x DVD-CDRW and 8x DVD-DVD +R? What is the best warranty to get and why?
The screen resolution will have to be your preference, the WUXGA wont look as good at a lower resolution than its native resolution. I recommend going to your local computer store and checking out the differences on some LCD monitors. If you are getting 2 HDD's in a RAID 0 array the SATA are a little faster, if it is just one the 7200 will be faster, but the difference shouldnt be noticable. The DVD-CDRW only reads DVD's, the other will burn DVD's.

I think i'll be placing an order for this machine when it becomes available. The only thing that scares me are dead pixels. I read the Sager statement, but I also remember the pctorque guys saying a while ago that users could keep returning the laptop until they they have a screen they are happy with. Is this still the case?

If I'm gonna spend nearly $4k, the screen better be perfect. I could live with one stuck red pixel in the corner, but almost nothing else. The $200 dead pixel policy is simply an insult. Maybe $50 is reasonable, but $200 is insane.

I know this has been talked about alot, but hopefully some people with this chassis and the wuxga screen can share their experience.

You can still return the machine to your hearts content.

802.11a/802.11g Frequence is the difference.

Not exactly true. 802.11a and 802.11g are not using the same frequency. 802.11a is usefull is all your neighboors are already filling the 2.4Ghz frequency. 802.11a will use the 5ghz frequency. Also 802.11a does a better job in running concurrent sessions, meaning more people could run at fast speed using 802.11a than a fewer people with 802.11g.

Thanks for the response. That makes me feel lot more comfortable. Although, I'd hate sending back a perfectly good machine over dead pixels. I figure I'd have to send it back about 6 times before I hit $200 in shipping/insurance charges.

DDR vs DDR2...
Going back to an earlier part of this thread and some Q re memory used by AMD vs Intel.
here are links comparing DDR and DDR2,

http://www.motherboards.org/reviews/...re/1476_1.html

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/133/1

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mem.../ddr2-ddr.html

AMD is due to go to DDR2 in 2006 on their M2 socket and the next cpu upgrade, FX-59 and X2 5000??
Hope this helps answer some Q people had .
