Official Clevo D900K Countdown Thread - Page 40

You think the resellers are paying attention in these forums to all the 'chatter and anticipation' ocurring in regards to the D900K and will price accordingly?

I don't know about you 'gamers', but as a notebook user whose income depends on having the most powerful and fastest notebook available, price is not an issue. Do you guys have to have the 'latest and best' and damn the cost?

'Gamers', as I read these forums, seem to be as anal about their gaming machines as I am about my workstation.

BTW: Couldn't wait any longer for the D900K so I just received shipment on a D900T.

I used Sager's advertised retail base price. $400 is the retail difference in price between a X2 4200 and a X2 4800 on AMD's web-site.

Ram, TV Tuner are 4750 upgrade prices on the Sager configurator.
The HD raid 0 prices are from the 9890 configurator also on Sager's site. Needless to say it would be nice if it was cheaper. AMD is the best...especially when talking dual-cores. All any of us can do is wait and see.
Well, with the config I listed a few posts back with the X2 4800, I'm hoping it's no higher than $3,800. The TV tuner is useless for me and I plan to run linux so no worries about the ms tax.

Here's an interesting article to pass the time...

I'm in the same position, especially since my current notebook is falling apart (literally). I need to find a replacement ASAP, but I've been trying to wait for the 9750 to be released, since I could really use the dual-core processing power. It doesn't hurt that it comes with a Go 7800...

I went with the BOXX workstation unit (GoBoxx 2300) with P4 3.8 670, dual 100GB 7,200 RPM drives and the Quadro OpenGL card. Received it this morning.

Waited 4 months and just couldn't hold off any longer without confirmation that they would ship by mid-December.

That's correct. I meant where did you see the pricing?

Anyway, coming back to topic. I think the pricing for the upgrade will be something similar to this.

$2899. base

425. X2 4800 Proc (upgrade from 4200) - price dif picked from hypernsonic
080 2 GB RAM(upgrade from 1 GB) - price dif picked from hypersonic because prices available from pctorque are for 533DDR2 modules
460 2 X7,200rpm 100GB HDs Raid 0 - price dif picked from pctorque
070. TV Tuner - price picked from pctorque (you wouldn't want the MCE only tv tuner)

$3934.

I would personally prefer a X2-4400 and single 100/120GB 7200rpm PATA drive. 4400 had 1MB L2 cache per core. Also, I just ordered an external 320GB 7200rpm 8MB western digital drive on thanks giving .

So for me it would be
$2899. base

080 2 GB RAM(upgrade from 1 GB)
135 7,200rpm 100GB HDs PATA
070. TV Tuner

Which I think is fair enough atleast for me, but would love if the price went more down south

I'm guessing Dell has some exclusive deal with Intel that allows them to get Centrino and other chips cheaper. It's all about costs.
With the antitrust suit and the fact that Dell has posted poor results lately, the likelyhood of them adopting amd is getting much greater. There was no need to do it when things were going really well for them, but the times are a changing... Time will tell.

If anything, Dell may have to adopt amd opterons first because the xeons are pathetic server chips. You can't use xeons in 1U racks because the cooling is insufficient. Not a good thing, especially when a dual core athlon can at a way lower cost.

Gonna get me one a these but wheres the international warranty

OK Ive decided finally to get a decked to the hilt 9750 but I am moving to Australia in January and need to know that warranty work can be done without having to be without my laptop for a month at a time for the mailing it to USA issue, anyone have any ideas on how pctorques warranty will work in AU? They are my current vendor of choice but there is a AU vendor called P4 laptops that might be a better option? They don't even mention this model yet and I need the laptop before Jan 29th. International warranties where are you

Think about your frustration with the time zone trying to get help from the US, not to mention the time involved in shipping to and from the US. If there is anyone in AU that will sell you D900k I would buy it from them.

I concur. That would be extremely frustrating.

...pctorque preorders for the sager np9750 should start soon...
tic...toc...tic...toc
Preorders will begin when testing is complete and Clevo is satisfied with thier product. That's when they'll go into mass production and final pricing will be set. The delay is agonizing, but I'd rather have the best product I can since I intend to use this laptop for 2-3 years as my primary machine.

I know most people are hot for the x2 4800, but I intend to go with the FX-57. It's hard to say how dual core procs are going to improve gaming over the next couple of years, but for now the faster single core destroys the 4800.

Hi to everyone, I originally posted the pic of the X2 4800+ in the chasis see page 47 of this thread http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...=95231&page=47 and in the above pic you should be able to see the X2 4800+ in the D900K - that's the system properties page - image taken from the reseller who I have ordered from.

Hope this helps lighten the wait

PS I know the speed of processor is not showing correctly - but it is a 4800+ but I imagine it's just another of those bugs that need to be worked on before the machine is released.

enjoy

This can only mean a couple of things,

1. the 4800+ isn't supported until this bug is fixed
2. worst yet all x2 isn't supported until this bug is fixed
3. just when will these bugs be fixed!!

hope the bug can be fixed soon if it isn't already.
You'll find that the X2 and FX chips are reported incorrectly in loads of XP-OS machines, the OS doesn't correctly always report the speeds on dual core - I siad it can also happen on FX chips here's one in a desktop from the AMD support boards http://img500.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fx570gl.png

the issue is just likely to be bios based, and not hardware.

I wonder how early is early December
