DELL 7000M At $449. IT COULDN'T GET ANY CHEAPER THAN THAT

I was at Dell website looking at ultraportable notebook that has a combination of performance and ultraportability, so I ended up looking at Dell Inspiron 700m. Little that I know that there is a $750 coupon going on now. So I decided to go with the cheapest configuration and applied the coupon, and the final price came out to be $449. The configuration consists of 1.6 Ghz. CPU, 40 GB hard drive, DVD/CD combo, 256 MB RAM, 4 cell battery. I said to myself gee Dell might as well give away their laptops for free. I was looking at 12" widescreen notebook, and everywhere they sell it for at least $1500, but with the configuration a little bit better but not by much. I don't know how in the hell Dell could sell the 700m for $449. To me that is nuts. I thought the 700m might be a cheap product, but when I went to one of Dell's stores in the mall and actually saw the 700m. I was totally impressed with the LCD display, and its compactness of about the size of 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper. I said to myself WOW.

450$ hmm
well.. great.. i dunno how dell does it either

Hrmm, I think one of us is understanding these coupons wrong.

I believe the price of the laptop has to be above $1,499 for the coupon to take effect.

$449 + $750 = $1,199 Which is well below the $1,499 figure I'm seeing.

Naturally, I could be very wrong.

well i purchased one and the total price came out $449 plus $19 for handling, and no sale tax. so basically i purchased it for $468 out the door.

To bad it's an old gen. 32-bit system only. Oh wait... That's all Dell is selling...

all 12" or below LCD screen ultraportable notebooks on the market have intel intergrated graphic. 12" notebooks are not designed for gamers rather they are designed for ultraportability. if you want better non intergrated GPU, you have to go with 13" or above, then that would add dimension and weight.

$499?!? That's crazy man. Congrats. I just got mine with 3 year warranty and whatnot for $846.

yeah I know, I was just commenting on ramifications 32 Bit comment because there have note been any 64 Bit systems with top-o-line GOus yet that I know of

Good to know you're taking advantage of that 64bit processing ROFL

While your waiting for something to take advantage of you cpu ( marginal advantage at that ), i'll be playing some san andreas or battlefield 2 on my $1200 laptop with a 256MB Nvidia 6800Go.

Ouch..I feel like I should contribute more to the sore losers who bought a sager just for that name. Believe it or not, sager can't hold a candle compared to the 9300 or XPS Gen2 w/ priceerformance ratio. Please son, go back to school!

Just to update...currently there is a 750 off 1499 for insprion laptops. which would make the laptop in the $700 dolalr range...but Dell is also currently offering a 300 dollar rebate as well which brings this bad boy A/R to in the 400's....sounds like an awesome deal to me

hrm. yeah, like someone else said earlier, you need to reach 1500 for the coupon to work, i just tried it, BUT you must have gotten in when everything in the world stopped and your lucky star was beaming down from the heavens on your face and decided it was time to cut you a break.

i honestly envy you, i was about to buy one too but it won't let me with that config

yeah i don't know how it works. but when i did it starts out at $1,199. i didn't upgrade on anything, and left it the way it was at the lowest and cheapest configuration, then when i went to check out and applied the coupon, and there it was $1,199 - $750 = $449 + $19 (handling) = $468 Total
