Infared Port for Presario 1800T

Hi all, I have a Compaq Pesario 1800T and I am trying to install the proper driver for the infared.

I'm trying to upload pictures to the laptop from my complicated SonyEricsson cell phone which has an infared port and I can easy turn it on or off. I tried a few drivers for the laptop but nothing seem to work for me. Does anyone have any ideas which might get me running?

Thanks again for any help.

check to see its on in bios... i beleive IR is setup there.. if it is and on... then check under control panel to see if it's on.. it is listed under the control panel as wireless link...dont let this confuse you it is for infrared not wireless network adapter, not sure why microsoft didnt label it as infrared link or something a little bit closer to what it is for.. shouldnt need a driver just set it up in there..

Thanks Infinity for your reply I will try and check in the control panel and see if I can find wireless link. How do I get into the bios? I know dumb question! And what should it say to see if the infared is on?
Thanks again...

It's different on almost every system.. I beleive compaq hides the bootup process with its own screen.. you have to press esc first to see what is really happening and then hit whatever it says to go into cmos setup or bios setup.. I think Infrared will be listed as 2nd serial port if it is there which should have a mode and if it's set to ir then it's on..

Bios Says

Serial port A: [Auto]
Parallel port: [Auto]
Floppy disk: [Enabled]

Local Bus IDE adapter: [Both]

I have to hit F10 when the red Compaq logo comes on...

I guess it dosen't look like I have the port on. How do I set this up? I went to the Control Panel and installed on of the drivers Plug and Play for the infared. I have an ICON but when I try to enable it is giving me Error 45.

Anything else you can think of?

I would really like to get this set up but and thats me..

thanks again

infared

Hi again, I did look at all the pages but I see nothing on infared or number 2 serial port.

Any other ideas?

Thanks again.
