Hyperthreading on a 766 model

Hey, I am a Area-51m user and I've had some trouble figuring out how to enable HT on my system. There is no option in the BIOS, is that because the mobo doesn't support it or is Alienware behind on their homework. I also need help configuring it for Linux so I can boot my SMP kernel. Thanks for any help.

I have a 766 and my BIOS has an option for Hyperthreading, I think I remember some earlier model did not support it. If you have an HT processor then you should call Alienware support, they may swap your M.B.

As far as Linux, I am dual booting XP and FC3 on my766. I used Partition Magic to create a 10MB partition and then started the FC3 install. Anaconda found the empty partition and created the EXT2 and swap partitions on it. i use GRUB bootloader to give me a menu when I boot.

All of the 766's were HT enabled from day one.

Ah, I see that you are correct! Thanks. Now how do I get it to work with FC3. When I try booting FC3 - SMP, it gets stuck at configuring kernel parameters (or something of the sort)

And Mark, I also used Partition Magic to configure my HDD. I installed FC3 with ease, but when I try booting the SMP kernel, it gets stuck on configuring kernel parameters. Did you get that same problem? Also, I cannot get sound to work, when I did the first time boot the sound played, but after that nothing. Did you have the same problem? How do I fix it?
