Most of the time when i play WoW my GPU temp is running at 74-76 degrees.
I am using XPS2FanGui posted by kispitye
By default the GPU fan seems to only kick on high when the CPU reaches a certain temp. This allows the GPU temp to go really high and not kick the fan on high. Using any one of the various fangui apps you can set the GPU fan to kick on independently of CPU temp and help keep the GPU temp down.
That said, I too receive random crashes and reboots when playing WoW. It has been more so recently in the last month or so.
Sometimes I get a the WoW crashed message and by the time my system gets back to the main screen I see my GPU temp around 79 degrees. Which is hotter than it normal runs. Other times I see the flash of Blue Screen of death of death followed by a reboot. Upon restart Microsoft windows recovers and says "A Device driver caused a critical error." The GPU is cool enough by the time I reboot so I don’t know if that was heat related.
Two nights ago I had the WoW app crash 3 times and 2 reboots. Last night (4 hours) and today (about 2 hours) I have had no problems at all.
I am using the stock 18.104.22.168 driver.
I wonder if a recent WoW patch has caused some of these issue because I have not changed anything on my system in since May and it was in June that I start seeing these issues.
