Hi everyone. I have an HP Pavillion ze4420us. The cd burner quit working on it and needs replacing. I just can't figure out how to remove it. I removed every screw I could find on the bottom of the laptop, even the ones with the rubber inserts, but it will not budge. I thank all for any help.

Removal Procedure
1. Unplug the AC adapter, if present, and then remove the battery.

2. Remove these additional assemblies:
• Keyboard cover
• Keyboard

3. Remove the two M2.5×6.0mm screws that secure the CD/DVD drive to the top case and motherboard.

4. Place your index finger in the top case opening and push out on the CD/DVD drive to release it from the motherboard.
5. Remove the CD/DVD drive.

Hope thgis helps!

hmm...does any slim line optical drive fit in there or does it have to be a specific HP one?

The drives fit, it is a matter of the door. They are not all interchangeable. Some people don't care if the door is not a perfect match.

You might be able to find a drive that your door fits. I just don't remember what it looks like anymore.
