Will i be able to buy this ram and then not have to worry about the 512 i have that came with the 9300? Will that cause a performance issue?

You will not have any performance issues running different size sticks. I would assume 40% of the users on here are running that way.

What about ddr2 1 gig ram chip from OCZ?? I went with tiger direct because newegg didnt have the kingston in stock and they were being a pain in the ass about sending my order to my work address instead of my billing address, which is a post office box that they wont ship to anyhow!!!

ok guys. i just installed the ram and booted up the lappy. the system is reading 1.25gb of ram running in DUAL channel mode. thats with the dell 256mb ram module and the OCZ (my mistake i forgot i got OCZ and not kingston) 1gb module. im going to play BF2 and CS:S and WoW and see if anything happens(hopefully nothing on the negative side ).

from newegg.com

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227110
but they are all sold out at the moment.

and here is alink to all of the ram that should be supported by the 9300 and the xps2.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ubmit=Property

the 1gb of ram makes the laptop so much faster when going from one application to the next or when exiting a game.
