Are you aware that repackaging goods that were previously sold as new, then returned, and sold again as 'new' is a violation of the US Uniform Commercial Code? They must be labeled as 'refurbished' or 'used'. In all likelihood, it's also a violation of California consumer protection laws as well, since most states have a similar statue to the one in the UCC.
I think its fair to say you don't know what you're talking about in this matter.
You know why Sager has such a liberal return policy? Not because they're such nice people, but because without it, many consumers would be (rightly so) hesitant to purcase from a 3rd tier laptop vendor.
If the policy is not something they can handle, they should ditch it.
Returned machines should be used for spare parts, or sold as refurbished, at a discount. Thats how other manufacturers deal with returns. You can be damn sure Sony or Apple wouldn't sell you a used machine as new....or if they did, and were caught(as Packard Bell was years ago), they'd be heavily penalized. That's why most companies have an outlet for refurbed product.
You may not be able to sell them as new, but getting a refurbished machine is well within rights when you are getting a replacement. This is all in the agreement that goes with RMAs. You will recieve a machine of equal value in workig condition, either new or with refurbished parts that still carry a warrenty.
Now, as for the dead pixel... you SIR, do not know what you are talking about. As with ALL computer parts, there are standards for manufacturing. Within LCD specs, there are different classes of LCD quality. A, is a company that NEVER makes a dead pixel.. you will find no A-Class manufacturers.... ever. B, allows for a certain # of dead pixels in a given area, based off the number of pixels. Guess what... 1, is accepted for ANY size, no matter where. And, if you REALLY wanna start your bi*ching, keep in mind Dell, Toshiba, Sony, etc... good luck returning a WORKING machine with one dead pixel... try 8 or 9...
