At what point do I have to enter some sort of specialized code for using the EPP site? Clicking that link takes me in directly, no questions asked, allowing access to all of the coupons you've listed.

Do they actually care who uses these? Do you really need to be "eligible"?
As long as you know a EPP code you should be fine. ALso note certain epp codes (usually school related codes) will restrict your purchases to certain models for example a lot of high tech schools that issue a single model laptop to there students will usually restrict you to that particular model in there premier site at dell.com.

If you have a code, it should work. I wouldn’t know, though. We have a code through my dad’s work

Yeah, I gave a notice about that in my original post.

Grrr! I don't have an EPP. So the deal definitely does not work if you don;t? Is there a way to share an EPP?

Will the two coupons work without the EPP 12% if you don't have an EPP?
But it doesn't seem like you even NEED to enter an EPP code at all. When you click the link, you're brought to a page where you're REQUESTED to enter your EPP code. And if you don't know it, you just choose your employment category from the pulldown menu and you get into the store anyway.

I don't have an EPP code. I work for a company that doesn't fall into one of those categories (we have fewer than 500 employees). But there's nothing on this website that seems to be stopping me from ordering here anyway.

Am I missing something here? This all seems way too easy.

Wow, really?? I may consider getting a new system myself!!! By the way, congrats to TheTechMen for getting his Dell at such great specifications at such a great price!!!!

Well, I've placed an order.

To cover my bases, I called Dell's sales support and asked about my situation. The conversation went something like this:

Me: I just found all of these coupons for your EPP program. But I don't work for a company that has any kind of employee relationship with Dell. Can I still use these?

Sales guy: So, you found some kind of back door?

Me: Back door? It looked more like a front door - a big shiny webpage that asked me no questions and simply offered me laptops for almost no money. I certainly didn't hack your website.

Sales guy: [laughing] Well, if you were able to find EPP coupons and build a shopping cart, I'd say consider it your lucky day. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to place your order.

Me: Thanks!

So I placed an order. And just to be ABSOLUTELY sure I wasn't doing anything fraudulent, in the checkout field where you're asked to put your employer, I put "self-employed". I'm not sure how much more blatant I can make it that I don't have an EPP code.
But my order went through - an i6000 system stacked up to just over $2000, and therefore eligible for all of the discounts discussed in the thread. My total savings was just under $1000.

I've also received both my order acceptance notification and my order confirmation emails. At this point, I have no reason to think this won't ship.

I tried to add that 30% off of 1500 code into my coupons in my account and it says that its an invalid code. I copied and pasted the code from here so I should have it typed correctly.

I tried entering without an EPP code like you did. Gets me to the store just fine, but if I try to click on notebooks or something to configure an order, it just sends me back to the epp code screen entry. Endless loop.

Yeah, I’m not sure if dell gives a crap who you are or not. Anyone can get into the EPP website - I know that much – if they have a valid code (which can be found all over the net). But when you try to purchase your computer, you’ve got to enter the name of your company. I have no clue how it works, but I’d guess dell does some kind of check or something… to make sure the name of the company matches the EPP code. But I really can’t say for sure - seems like it works fine if you have a code, which is awesome.

I have what appears to be a valid acceptance notification and an order confirmation. My order status shows that my system is currently in testing, having completed kitting and building. And I not only did NOT enter an EPP code, but I put "self-employed" as my company name.

I'll write back if there's a change in this status or when I receive the laptop. But it would seem that they don't care about those EPP codes at all - they'll sell to anyone.

I got the 30% code and the $200 code to work. I built a dell 700m system

I tried the 30% code yesterday without entering a member id for eep, and kept getting the coupon error.

Today i tried something different. My college bookstores website has a link to the dells eep area of the dells website. I clicked that link and started configuring my system and was able to get the 30% coupon and $200 to work at the same time.

At one point the 30% coupon didn;t work from my collegees link for about 5 min, but i think its because i kept reloading the site, reconfiguring a new system and applying the coupon over and over again.

So maybe you need a member id. The link i used probably had the member id applied to it. Also it did ask for a student id, which i put in.

My total discount was 1216.30. This includes my 150 rebate, 12% eep discount, $200, 30%.

EPP will work with XPS M170

I just ordered an XPS M170 with the 30% coupon plus the 12% EPP discount on 11-21-05. However, Dell usually has a limit on how many discounts they give out per coupon. The coupon I used had 2000 uses as the limit.

I have found out in the past that the uses limit is usually reached before the expiration date. My recommendation in the future is to use the coupon as quickly as possible if you expect it to work.

hey all, I was just wondering weather there are any XPS (notebook) coupons out right now. I am really really looking forward to buying an XPS M170.

Do you have any updates on your order? I've done the same thing you have done (except calling the dell sales).

Received both emails and I checked with my credit card company that payment has been authorized on this transaction. I ordered late sunday (GMT) but my order has been sitting in "Pre-Production" ever since.

I finally emailed dell sales inquiring about my order and all i get is an email saying what I already know - that payment has been authorized & it's in pre-production stage and that they will let me know once it has been shipped.

Does anyone know what's going on?
