No, is not out yet, but there is a rumor that is coming out on April 14. I guess the rumor is true because of the coupon.

Yeah, obviously they are preparing for the M1710 release, and I wouldn't expect any coupons to work with it for a couple months.

I'm looking to buy a laptop suitable for high-end gaming for college next year. I've heard the Dell XPS line is the way to go for this route. I'm in no hurry to buy, I've got all summer, but I'd like to be able to get one and 'break it in' over the summer. I figure it would be best to just wait around until one of these coupons will get me a great deal on it. What are the chances of a coupon for 20% or 30% for the XPS notebooks coming out in the next few months?

Very slim chance. 20-30% coupons come out very rarely for the XPS'. Only once or twice in history of the Gen 2/M170 I believe. However, they do have sales every once and a while. I got mine for $1550 shipped a week ago when they had a huge sale.

Actually last week the deal was a 40% off that was stackable with a 16% off coupon, so it was more than 46%. I got an $1200 desktop for $600 after tax and shipping.

As for coupons now, I don't think that there are any good coupos out right now. They usually go in streaks, with there being a big week and then some lower ones as far as coupons go.

do epp coupons get posted here ? you think i shoud wait then ? or go for the 40% off $999?

EPP coupons most of the time are very limited in use, if not single use only. The ones that can be used multiple times are posted here usually, but often times you'll need to go buy one off of ebay that will add a bit more off.

If you'd really like to get your computer now, I'd buy it with the 40% now. If you don't mind waiting a little while to save $100-$200 I'd wait.

I posted something similar to this in it's own thread in another forum so sorry if this is too much of a rehash; I figure this is a better thread to get a response.

I am looking to spend around 2000 dollars on a laptop that should have at minimum a 7800GTX and WUXGA screen. I'd also like to get the best bang for my buck, and right now it looks like I can configure a $2000 M170 and pay only around 1800 on it using a 10% coupon and 35 of 300.

I don't know if the M1710 introduction will make dell stop selling the M170, because that will probably be a bit much for me to spend. I also don't know when the next time a 10% XPS coupon will come around after april 20, or if there perhaps will be one higher in the next week or two.

In your guys' professional opinion would I be best to buy now or wait a week or two or three?

10% isnt enough for me at ALL....25% minimum is where I start shopping for computers. 40% would be ideal...and it does come around if you are willing to wait. My BEST advice for people trying to get a bang for the buck deal...

A) put money aside, continually add to it over time
B) watch the coupon code thread...wait for the 30-40% off, then buy

I think too many people wait till they NEED or cant wait any longer to buy a system. I started shopping in July of 2004...i had $3000 I was willing to use, put it aside...and configured alienware, voodoo, dell, etc, waiting for the right time. One night, 40% off 12 hour coupon code, and I jumped all over it.
