i have a hard time believing that dell beat alienware in both of those tests, especially because the alienware laptop had 1gb of memory more, and a 3.6ghz processor... but i didnt test them, so i dont know.....

Thats interesting - I think that we always knew that the Pentium M worked very well in real games...

Why do you have a hard time believing that? Because it's a Dell? Because of the Mobile processor? The P-M(S-core) is a new technology. Stop paying attention to clock speeds and look at how well the proc performs.

Also, please do a little research on RAM. More than a gig and you do not see significant improvement at low resolutions, currently.

also it appears the dell is using older drivers by the looks of the 3dmark05 score, so the difference in game would be even greater!

The new 533MHz FSB Dothans are possibly the best gaming processors available bar none (yes that includes you A64/FX folks). So it's no surprise than the 3.6GHz P4 would lose out to it.

It's no use. There's always people that disagree and say that no Intel could ever beat the AMD FX or whatever the highest one is.

If you believe gamepc, not even an FX-65 would beat a P-M.....

But for REAL numbers, try this one.....

Oh, and this new one shows quite a beating on the contender, which should be no surprise as it was quite overmatched..... wait, how come, it even beats an FX

http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...1836328,00.asp

Both of them, techreport and extremetech are FAR more reputable than gamepec, specially techreport whose reviews are arguably the best (well, the old Ace's with Johan deGelas had also top notch reviews)

This is not the deny the horsepower the P-M has, it is great performer, maybe too powerful for AMD's comfort, but get real..... Not going to beat a K8 in brute force.
