Ferrari 4005 :- Sound Glitch

Hi Guys,

I am running Battlefield 2 and a few other games on my new Ferrari 4005. The games run well and i am really impressed with the quality of graphics.

The only problem i have is a slight crackling sound when Battlefield 2 is running. Has anyone else encountered this and if so what they did to fix it.

If i have no luck fixing it does anyone recommend the Audigy card for notebboks or Turtlebeach card?

Other than that the Ferrari is awesome and i would highly recommend it to others. I didnt think the mouse was too bad, especially when its fully charged.

Thanks in advance.

I also have heard the crackalackin' while playing BF2. Although when my sound is hooked up through my Audigy 2 ZS card I hear no crackin' at all...and sometimes when I run my headphones through the sound port in the Ferrari I hear the crackin, but thats only when I play BF2.

Thanks for that, I have updated to the latest drivers as recommended on a previous thread but cracklin is still there.

Do you recommend the Audigy 2ZS then, is it USB? What is the sound performance like with it and how is it set up. Is it external and do you need to plug speakers into it.

Thanks again.

I have the impression that my left speaker also makes a little crackling noise with high frequency sounds. ( not only games ) Gonna try updating drivers.

My sound isn't optimal either, once in a while, there's a cracking sound, it isn't continuous and it happens in movies and games alike.

I was thinking about buying some sound upgrade anyway, I have some cheap speakers, but they sound, well, cheap. So I will have to go buy something new, but even with the extra amplification the speakers offer, maximum sound output is still rather low.
I haven't found any turtlebeach yet in Belgium (or the Netherlands) on any site, or anything alike (usb powered sound amplifier, that's basicly its main purpose) so I'll have to go get a full-fledged soundcard.

buy the TurtleBeach Audio Advantage Micro... it is a USB sound card... it works great!

plus it's about 1 / 3 the price of an Audigy 2 ZS. It has it's own headphone jack. It can also pass through surround sound with an S/PDIF cable to digital speakers. It significantly boosts the volume and gets rid of the crackling. It can even "fake" surround sound for regular audio.

I've had one for a couple weeks and no problems and reccommend it over the overpriced Creative stuff.

I just got mine a week ago, and have tried a collection of game demo's I had on old magazine disks. Almost all of the games have had the crackling, and it seems to get worse the longer played. I haven't updated the drivers, but it does seem a possible bug.

I haven't heard the crackling, but in C&C Generals the sound tends to speed up to like 5x what it's supposed to be, so all the units talk quickly and the sounds are like .5 secodns long. It only goes away if I restart the game, so it may be Generals causing the problem

hey goeat...any other games have this problem. I have the same speedy sound/voice problem on KOTOR2. I have updated the sound drivers but it didn't help

nierdal rules.

This new sond driver kills all problems.
What resolution do you run BF2 in?
How do you stop games from stretching to wide screen?
To avoid stretching to wide screen, go to:
display porperties -> settings -> Advanced -> ATI Displays -> click on the "panel" button (just above the picture of the laptop) -> check "Expand while maintaining aspect ratio"(it will uncheck "Expand to full panel size")...
