I hope to provide you all with some valuable info about the system once it gets here. I hope it's here tomorrow. I will keep ya posted. It's nice to know someone who has visited the FL Keys. Hawks Key is a wonderful place indeed but I am only moving to North FL for the schools. The schools there are great. I wont leave the Keys too long I promise I love it here

The Florida Keys are great - we generally try to go from West Palm Beach to Key West at least once a year by boat - the most relaxing holiday you can imagine. Have spent a few nights in the Hawks Key marina...

Congrats on the system, and looking forward to your review.

Ok I cannot believe my eyes! Looked on FedEx.com today....Status: On FedEx vehicle for delivery marathon FL. They Found my package. It was a miss communication at the Key West Terminal. Well I will let you all know when it arrives

Glad to hear they found your hardware. When mine was in the process of shipping, one box would be scanned at a processing center, and not the two others, and so forth. It was a panic inducing situation, looking at the tracking history. Luckily it all got here on the same day. Makes you wonder why FedEx bothers to scan the stuff at all, sometimes.

Natman18:

Good to hear that your system is closer to you than California. :-)

Please inspect your system for any damage and look over your packing slip. This is just precautionary.

As everyone said, the systems are well packaged and do endure more than the usual bump and drop.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate in contacting us.

I did just get off the phone with a FedEx tracker.

This is his quote:

Saturday July 16th

"In the best case scenario your system is already sitting at your local FedEx warehouse but has not been scanned and will be shipped on Monday. Sometimes the local FedEx ground that has a contract with us does not scan the package until it is actually delivered to you. But we can call them on Monday and check to see if your package is there at the warehouse. However it is possible that the package was sent on the wrong truck and could be in California by the 20th. By then we will know where it is most definitely. But call us back on Monday."

I also found out that in the Florida Keys we do not have home delivery. The package was sent to a ground hub and that is why I may not get it until Monday (if it was sent to the right place). Well only time will tell. By the way this is a great community and once I do get my system I hope to share some valuable info. I posted my specs below:

Ok so Monday morning I realize it was on the delivery truck. So at 9:22 AM i hear the truck...i look outside and watch as he passes my house. So in my underwear I run down the street yelling and screaming at the driver and by the time i reach the main street she is gone even though i was yelling and hitting the truck with sticks she still kept going. So it turns out FedEx did not give the lot # to the driver and she went to the main office of the property. She left a note telling me how to contact her. So i call her and she tells me......oh well i dont usualy do u-turns to take a package back. So meaning my car is at the shop i ask for a ride from a friend and he takes me to the local hospital where the FedEx delivery lady is dropping off supplies. So i picked my AW up at the local hospital.

Ok so i spent all day cleaning my area up and yelling and screaming and throwing things and to make a long story short i finaly get everything hooked up and the computer area the way i like it. I noticed on the box prior to opening it that it had several rips and tears and nicks. But i knew it was fine once i opend the box due the the packaging.

So i get the sys all together and I use my old LCD screen to view the sys. Well i had problems with the lcd screen once before and i had to ship it out. The same problem happened again. So i called AW support and they basicaly said it sounds like you have a defective LCD monitor. So i go to Officedepot and buy me a 19" HP LCD MONSTER! This screan is 4" larger than my other monitor and 1" smaller than my TV! lol i know my TV is small but my god when you sit infront of this thing its amazing.

Well I got everything setup the way i like it and today I am going to spend the day getting rebate stuff together. I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE PICS OF THE SYS UNTIL I CAN GET A CAMERA. So bare with me everyone. But I can tell ya some benchmarks that came with my comp:

Note: I have yet to do my own testing.

Doom 3: 117.2 fps

3DMark 2005
Game Tests
3DMark Score: 7,688.00 3DMarks

I must say playing BF 2 on my old computer was nothing compared to my new setup. OMG I just cannot belive the performance and image quality. And the new monitor realy sets it off. The 7800 GTX is a great card as well and realy rocks with BF 2.

Ok so bottom line..once i get a camera I will post some pics and as i play witht the sys a little i will keep ya posted. Overall AW is a very good company and I would reccommend them to anyone who wants the Ultimate Gaming Experince. It was worth the wait!

Ok i have some questions. When the computer is running is there anyway to see what the temp is inside the comp besides the GPU temp? Also i notice the sys is very quiet and I don't even have Acoustic Dampening. So is it normal for the fans to hardly make any noise? Can i adjust their RPM? It doesn't feel like the fans are moving maximun airflow. Well let me know. By the way when i ran BF 2 for 10 minutes or less the GPU temp was around 65 C.

Obsessing on perfection!

Thats great that you got your system and that it rocks but don't let yourself sweat the small stuff as its a waste of emotional energy. Its natural to obsess over finding fault with such an expensive rig, that just came in the mail >>> nobody wants to get burned... I tried so hard to ascertain any imperfections when mine came that I actually (and unintentionally) made one up. I thought that one of my fans was out and AW sent me a new one with a tech, only to find that there was no fan on that side of the case...DOH! Its run like a charm ever since and whenever I think that it might let me down, it doesn't. I bet that your fans are fine but one way to tell is to see how loud they get after running Doom3 for a couple of hours >>> there should be a major difference! I've just been surfing for an hour and my fans are barely audible but after I play San Andreas for the next eight, they will be screaming...

Congrats on your new Alienware Aurora!

Ya I checked the fans they are working great! At the moment I am running some stress tests to check my hardware because when I play BF 2 it has froze 2 times on me and once at the desktop. So I am in contact with AW techs. I will let ya know what happens and expect pics soon

Congrats on the new rig....enjoy

There have been some issues with BF2. Have you tried to uninstall BF2 (delete all files) and reinstall? also get the BF2 patch version 1.02
