Wireless Network Connection is now connected

Why does Win keep tellin me Wireless Network Connection is now connected in the pop-up ballon above the system tray like every 5-10 minutes? It's like - yeah I already know. I can have downloads going and they don't break and I don't lose connection to games so I think the connection is continous but it's just annoying as hell...

Any ideas?

Yeah, I have the same thing. Sometimes it would stop downloads though but towards the end (before I got a new one) it didnt stop the downloads.

I wonder if it actually is dropping but doing it so fast and coming right back up.'

Edit : Just curious, you got a linksys wrt54g?

Note, this will disable all balloon tips;

1. Start Regedit
2. Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\
3. Create a DWORD value of EnableBalloonTips
4. Give it a value of 0

What is your lease time on the router?

WRT54GS - not maxing my lease time -

and also...

did anyone ever find out why the WIRELESS light keeps going off after awhile even if wireless is on?

there's also a check you can uncheck for letting you know when it's connected. others have complained about the wireless light going out, but it still works and the lease time should be 0 (one day).

That was happening to me too. I think it's that your router is broadcasting on one channel and your wireless is recieving on a different channel. Find out what channel your router is broadcasting on and set your wireless card to the same.

You are probably using some software that connects to a KAD server, for example eMule?
It's normal, Kad is trying to make too many connections at once when it searches for sources, making your router freak and disconnect or reboot.

There you go, you see a baloon on your desptop telling you that the local/wireless area is now connected...
The fix I found was easy, I simply replaced my D-Link router with a Microsoft one. No more connection problems now.

no he probably isn't using some software and no he doesn't have connection problems, it's the annoying ballons i get too, regedit will take care of it and I know for a fact it isn't reconnecting.

I got those annoying balloons saying I was now connected but I already was or I never did disconnect. It was because I had my wireless card set to the wrong channel. Set your wireless card to recieve the channel your router is broadcasting. Once I did that I don't get the baloon popups anymore other than when I first load windows and it connects for the first time.
