Pentium4 or PentiumM for laptop Life - Page 2

i know exactly what you mean, i have a compaq x1000 with exactly the same problem. The hinges are relatively ok but they have this slack that makes the screen wobble whenever the desk is shook etc. I have found it to be a problem with HP/Compaq, Acer, Dell, etc etc. Only IBM seems to be immune, and Sony are alright (they only move say 1mm). Of course, you do pay a premium for both IBM and Sony.

To be honest, ive got used to it over time, but the problem still exists afte 1 year.

My HP screen shakes a little but thats because its such a huge lid that it has to or there would be too much force on the hinges... What brand was having that problem with them breaking... Started with a C... Clevo maybe... dont think so... think it was the other one...

sorry guyz was away forawhile..wanted to come here nd update
I went to BestBuy/CircuitCity to check out on the lid shake, on other laptops. I found the lid tobe as shaky as mine on every laptop i saw there on display.

Called up HP techsupport nd personally everytime the call is handled out frm India I've a problem. My question was "does all DV4000 series models comes with a shaky lid?" the support guy was arrogantly ignorant..nd finally put me on hold for good. dis-connected nd called back luckily this time it was local i suppose...she went nd checked out for me nd came back sayin thts how all models are.

nd DAMIEN says his HP doesnt shake a bit. Hey DAMIEN think u need to return ur faulty model....as everyone's got shaky lid which s normal

i decided to return but then looks like every brand out there comes wiht a shaky lid. atleast mine ONLY has a shaky lid. Sometimes its annoyin tht even the standing fan can shake the lid

So thats my bit though. I'd been using IBM T42 nd sure thts one bullet-proof laptop. I've to hold the base to tilt the lid. this HPmodel is gr8 otherwise but alltogether 'am not 'vin a 100% feelin

just wanted to check when i DVDs there s an initial grrrrrrrrrrrrr kinda sound when the DVD is bein read. is this the normal thing?

man I've started suspectin everythin here...
