I'm trying to construct a home theatre system based around a laptop and realise that to do this i will need an additional sound card, as my laptop only has the two channel onboard sound. I am wanting to use my hifi amp to power the front two channels, and my receiver to power the surround/centre/sub. The complicating thing is that the receiver only has a digital input, no 5.1 analogue. I am therefore wondering if it is possible to get simultaneous spdif (preferably coaxial) digital output as well as analogue front two channel sound from a sound card. I would even be willing to use the onboard stereo output for the front two channels, if there is a way of using two sound cards simultaneously in windows. Any help will be very much appreciated!
