S-Series Laptop Problem

I currently own a Sony S-150, I been using it for couple months now and been very satisfied with the performance. But couple days ago, I tried to turn on the laptop it won't turn on anymore. I can't boot into Windows andymore. There is absouletely nothing shows up on the screen (not even BIOS) but the HD, the fan, and the light is all making noises and it shows it is on.

It is not the LCD problem because I tried to turn on turn off about 7 times then I can get into Windows, but then I always have to try to turn on/turn off about 7 times for me to get into Windows. Anyone have this same problem with their laptop? I called Sony and they said it might be a motherboad problem and told me to send it in but the thing is i moved recently and couldnt find the receipt for them in order to use the warranty. thanks.

I had the same problem, I just bought a S-360P 2 months ago. The last thing I did was put the computer into Standby mode. The next day I couldn't turn it on, just the power light and fan activity like you but no screen. I sent it in to Sony and they replaced the motherboard and wireless card. I wasn't having problems with the wireless card, but they tested it and said it was not working right.

I like using Standby so I'm putting it into Standby all the time now since I got it back to see if it happens again before my warranty runs out.

I think the 150 is known to have motherboard problems. Between me & my buddies, we've got 3 of them. Two had to go back to get the motherboard swapped. The good news is that Sony was really quick in getting the job done, and the laptops came back with all the data on the hard drive. One of them had been cracked open previously to have the HD upgraded to 7200rpm, and Sony either didn't notice or didn't care.
