Mine clicks. I tried to get the Hitachi Feature Tool to boot but I won't. This program has fixed the clicking for some.

Get DHAM (under IDE downloads) instead of the Feature Tool. It's easier to use and does the same thing. Let me know if you're successful in burning the DHAM iso file.

Mine is the 60GB. I'm not aware of any other 7200RPM brand Dell sells besides the Hitachi (60GB), or am I wrong?

I didn't notice any clicking sound for mine...so far so good.

I have a 7200 Hitachi drive but I've never even heard the thing even when crunching. I've only had the laptop a week but I've never heard it even when it takes about a minute to compile my programs which is some serious hd activity.

Using the Centrino Hardware Control (1.9 beta 02) I have made my HD A LOT quieter! I set the Acustic Management to "quiet" and Advanced Power Management to "Max Performance."

I don't notice any decrease in performance...but I have not tried to load BF2 in yet.

I've noticed some clicking in my drives, but it doesn't bother me so I leave it alone.
