s-video is only for video right, i'm just wondering what is the best way to get the laptop audio into the hdtv, i think i might have to use the headphone out and connect that to some adapter and will make it into audio out (red and white wires) right ? thx

Use the Soundblaster Audigy Notebook sound card and use Optical Out into the Optical In on your home theater (5.1 or 7.1) surround sound system for best quality. Second to that is to use a coax cable coming off the computer to connect to Coax In on the surround sound. The computer produces digital sound data, which your home theater will easily decode using optical in/out or coax in/out.

Not sure what model you have, but the 9200/9300/XPS2 have SPDIF which outputs sound thru the S-Video port, but you need an adapter to split the audio out.

You're right. My XPS comes with a adaptor, but it only works when I play DVD movies. I wanted to get it to work with my iTune for my mp3 songs and all other sounds, so does anyone know how to make it work??
