Hallo!

For my shiny new Powerbook:

Antivirus: None, though I may change this in a year or two if Mac OS keeps growing the way it is.
Firewall: Linksys WRT54G hardware firewall with NAT
Browser: Safari 2.0
Instant Messenger service: Adium and iRC
E-mail: Thunderbird
P2P Client: Azureus, when I get around to installing it
Anti-spyware: None, not necessary. Again, this may change.

For my shiny year-old Windows DTR:

Antivirus: None, and I've been curiously virus-free despite how much I'm on the 'net.
Firewall: Linksys WRT54G hardware firewall with NAT
Browser: Firefox 1.0.5
Instant Messenger: Trillian 3 Pro
Email: Thunderbird
P2P client: eMule and Azureus
Anti-spyware: Ad-Aware SE Personal and Spybot Search & Destroy

Wheeee

THere aren't "a few". There are no known viruses for Mac OS X in the wild. There are viruses for classic Mac OS, but nothing for OS X.

haha...very funny

at least it expanded the thread a little bit, notice the guys after me also started listing their non-mac stuff. and just because i dont own a mac, doesn't mean i dont use it (in school and via pearpc at home). and that is why i listed all that good stuff

I have to agree with abf here. Even if it's not specifically Apple-related, having a repository of answers to a such a commonly-asked question is very useful.
And we're totally missing the point.

This isn't a general "what do you use" thread it's a "what do you use on your Mac" thread.

I don't mind the Mac users posting what they use on their PCs as well as their Macs, but to come in here and flat out say "I don't use a Mac but..." and then go on and post what you use on your Linux machine is just ridiculous.
read my post...i did post a mac thing didn't i? I just wanted to make the point clear that i dont OWN a mac, but i do USE one occasionally or if i run Panther via PearPC on linux or windows
post #20 of 28
Yes, because using a Mac at school or through an emulator is the exact same thing as using one as your main computer.
