So I just got a Lenovo Yoga 13. This is my review.
As what I primarily do is writing and programming, having a good keyboard is critical for me, which is why a tablet alone can’t work for me, and...
I have owned dozens of laptops in a variety of brands, and had many different laptops provided for my use at work. Without question, this is the finest I have owned. The Alienware M17x R2 is a...

Oh man ive been awaiting sooo long to order my sager np8890 and now their is a shortage in screens so now im in line and might get a delay ! Any one else effected?
Oh why
I'm in the same boat as you are. Well at least I think I may be, Tom from PCT isn't sure whether my order made the cutoff date. I am still waiting to find out if I have been delayed or not.
And here's the kicker. I recently found out that I have to leave for overseas for an extended length of time and no one knows if my order will ship out before I do. Now that suxs!!!
Well best of luck to you Beachbum hope you don't have to wait to long.
Problem is Bok 79 has two tracking numbers, one for his 8890 and one for himself. Hopefully the one will get there before the other. If not, hope you have someone that can forward it to you. If not, it'd be a crying shame to have that beauty sitting there all by its lonesome.

I plan on asking PCT if they can change my shipping address to where I will be and charge me the difference in shippping price.

That's exactly what I said to Tom in my email. To have a PIF $3k+ piece of equipment sitting on my front porch while I am away overseas is very troubling to say the least.
All of this and I would never had known if I didn't email PCT first and ask if my order would be shipped prior to my ship date.
There was no mention of the screens being out of stock when I placed my order, otherwise I never would have placed it to begin with.
Bok, I'm in kind of the same boat as you man - I have to leave out of state soon (not as bad as overseas, but I will be gone for several weeks) - and I got the same deal. I ordered my 8890 last Monday, the 27th. A day later, I happened to respond to their confirmation email about another issue (some confusion on the zip code, turned out to be nothing) and heard about the screen shortage and that there could be a delay of two weeks or longer - ahhh!!! Like you, when I ordered (I went with the SXGA) they were still listed as being in stock so I don't know if I made the "cutoff" either. I haven't heard anything yet, waiting sucks I feel your pain.
I was told that im on the waiting list even before my payment cleared so they looked ahead of time for me so it might not be too long as I thought! But any delay sucks
My CC got billed on order. I found out I was apparently on a waiting list 2 days after I ordered - when I ordered the screens still showed in stock. I suspect I still wouldn't know if I hadn't emailed about an unrelated issue.
This is from PCTorque. I like them and they get good reviews here but they could do a better job of keeping people updated, especially when they plunk down 3 grand on a laptop. Naturally we're going to be anxious, it's human nature.
I ordered my sager from www.powernotebooks.com and i ordered it BEFORE the screen shortage occured! But they dont begin building my machine untill my eCheck clears but they put me on the waiting list before my payment clears which is november 4th i was also told that i will be affected by the shortage and all i can do is wait this situation out right now
you guys that said you were on the wait list, when did u order? i ordered from PCT really late 10-26, i'm praying i get it in less than a month, but a few weeks would be amazing and i could work over thanksgiving.
i email PCT on Friday fairly early and no response yet. gonna call first thing tomorrow morning.
I have a feeling PCT is going to be receiving quite a few phone calls/emails about orders being delayed and people being put on a waiting list.
I really hold no hard feelings against PCT, it's not their fault the screens are in shortage, however agreeing w/ what ixian said I would still be in the dark about the delay if I hadn't asked about the ship date of my order.
I placed my order on 10/24 but paid w/ Paypal echeck which didn't clear till the 27th so I'm sure my name is somewhere on that wait list.......right next to ixian and Beachbum.
That really sux after laying out $3+ w/ 2nd day air ship all that and I may not be around when it gets to my front door.
I dunno, and I agree it sucks. I feel bad for PC Torque, because they are going to lose a lot of business over this. They may even lose my order if I can't even get a date out of them soon.
I really hate to sat it too, but I may have to withdraw my order as well if someone can't get a exact delivery date for my order.
Well best of luck to you ixian and everyone else on the waiting list.
I guess the government gets first priority when an order is placed What are they gonna do with a 1,000 high speed low drag laptops? Anything and everything I evey saw the government owned, looked like it was a 3rd gen. hand me down.
Um, is patience in such short supply? I can understand Bok's predicament (your's will make it - just think positive) but what is it about having to wait a bit for your laptop? These aren't a Big Mac you know. Whilst we would all like to have the laptop yesterday sometimes supply chains can get overstretched.
Would you get better long term support elsewhere? I doubt it, but it is your right to cancel your Sager order.
But what else would you buy? Some other lesser laptop?
How would that make you feel, knowing that a kick-ass Sager could have been yours if only you had waited? Everytime you turn on your lamer laptop... just like a splinter in your mind - you would know you only have second best.
