Beginner need help about 64bit + GPU !!

hi guys, im looking to buy my first notebook because at the end of summer im starting university and it will probably replace my desktop.. i'm not a hardcore gamer but i play regularly so i want a good GPU.. the problem i see is the CPU.. Im really interested into an AMD64 , but i cant find a laptop AMD64 based with a good GPU.. The best i can find is the ASUS z80k with the radeon 9700 128mb and this card is kinda old for a brand new notebook.. any idea of modelds that offers AMD64 + good GPU .. ? or try to convince me to switch to intel (nah)?

I got my first laptop only 4 days ago:

Its a compaq 3200+ which is 2.0 GHz with 512 cache
15.4 brightscreen
one stick of 512 mb ram
and a 128 mb ATI Radeon 200m Xpress

It works for a lotta the games you'd probably want...just you can't play hl2 or doom 3 in the highest of settings. Boy do i wish i came here before buying it...the coupons here are amazing.

The search function on this forum works really well in cases like this.....

Yea, check out the MSI 1029 (not available yet). The 1029 weights about 6.3lbs. You can get a 1.8 25W CPU, 1GB RAM, 40GB HD, DVD burner, XP Home, 2-year warranty, 802.11g, for about $1650 shipped. That is cheaper than the Acer Ferrari. Xmeld also offers a 5% discount for current students.
