I have a question about ichat. I have 56k (thre is no other choice in my area) and i have to run aol to sign online. I put my away message up cause i hate aol but when i try to run ichat it wont let me because it says that there is already another connection on the IP address. I can sign onto aim no problem but aim for mac sorta sucks, cant talk and its a pain to put up away message. Is there any way to bypass this connection thing or will ichat just not work?

I purchased this Nook Color specifically because I was taking a very long trip to China and wanted to be able to read without carrying a ton of books. I also liked that it had email capability...

Although I've never used 56k with a Mac before I would try this.
Get the number from AOL, and then just try to connect to it via Internet Connect.app, your username and password if you need one would be your screen name and password for AOL.
Then try to sign onto iChat. You might also want to look at Adium (http://www.adiumx.com/), and see if that works even with AOL.
Final thought, check to make sure youre using a different screen name.

I havent tried Adium since around the first or second Beta release, so its been a while. Lots seem to like it more than iChat so i might give it a whirl.Let me know if you get iChat working though, I'd love to see if my blind advice worked!
heh thats what i tried to do when i first got my powerbook (to sign online using internet connect instead of horrible aol) but it disconnected me everytime. I guess it has to be dialed in by aol or it rejects the attempt. Id love to find a way to get around having to use the aol prog but I dont think its going to happen. Im getting a router and routing internet from my dell to my apple (yes i know..56k lol) so maybe thatll have me auto signed in without aol. Only time will tell I guess. Thanks for the advice
