Sorry, but the sound is NOT 100 times better, enough hyperbole already.
It's a minor improvement, but not a major upgrade. Yes, you gain EAX4, but you still have the kmixer resampling to 48 KHz and high ASIO latency.
There are also reported problems with the PCMCIA chipset in the 9300/XPS2 and high performance mode, but varied results have been reported (likely because people just don't know the difference).
It's only a useful upgrade if your laptop is stationary and you have an analog 6-speaker system to connect to it. If you use headphones, get a 64 ohm or higher headset and use the built-in sound in stereo mode. The higher impedence will reduce the hiss heard on 16- and 32-ohm units.
If you want musician quality audio, the Echo Indigo is a much better choice, or something like an M-Audio Firewire rig.
