Will these dothans (pref 1.8) still be around in a year or two so that I can pin mod it?

What reccommendations do people have for pin modding?

WHOA? USE THE SEARCH?! i sure hope no one replies to this thread so he can learn a lesson.

But to answer your repetitive question, yes they will still be available.

Oh crap, I actually used the Search function and got this very informative thread (along with agazillion others) http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...ghlight=pinmod

There really seems to be a lot of bashing lately.

yeah, i know the threads exist. And yes they're very long which is exactly why I started a new one. I dont want to go sifting through how many pages it is.

yeah, I knew someone would say that.

Don't listen to arkenzo, he complains a lot.
I mean look at his picture.. doesn't it just scream annoying.

Oh and don't mispeeel anything, he gets angriy at that 2!!

Edit: And sorry, I know nothing about pinmodding, I'm just trolling! XD

I'm happy with my pinmod so far. The 400MHz Dothan runs a bit hotter than my original 533MHz (Sonoma?) but nothing to worry about.. just about done undervolting it too, so now I'm almost back to normal again.

Hmm, can't really say wether they'll be around a year from now. I guess you'll have to wait and see

This is your 2nd warning one more and I will have you temp banned. He asked a legitimate question. Hes asking will the processors in question still be available to the public and as a side note you could just refer him to the guide without going haywire. If you dont watch your tone I will ensure you dont bother anyone else so WATCH that attitude.

As far as OP question. Honestly in a year you shouldnt have too hard a time finding the cpus but dont expect them to be any cheaper. By the time you deicde on something like this a year from now you could be facing the choice of buying a Dual core enabled Pentium M that will likely yield great performance compared to the pinmodded 1.8ghz so unless you decided on it in th enear future i dont really see a point to it.

Ban me, not my fault I'm trying to help the reduction of repetitive threads and questions. Not my fault I'm trying to help out the forum. If my help isn't appreciated, so be it. The forum does have a Search option which is used to help the reduction of cluttered redundant threads. As in regards to the "2nd warning", Might want to recheck your first warning, I've followed your request to be informative with my replies. Do a Post lookup and see for yourself.

It's not cool or professional to publicly say you're going to temp-ban me, seriously, I've never been in a public forum where the moderator has to publicly announce his powers, this is by far the first forum that I've been contributing in that has not appreciated my commitment to reducing the repetitive threads.

DELL-Machina YOU have PM.

Thanks

It's not cool or professional to respond to the OP in that manner; sure you can point him to the search. But instead of doing so nicely (while "helping" the forums) you are rude.

It's not cool or professional to respond to the admin in that manner on the OP's thread! Poor OP, I think he should make a new one, just to smite Arkenzo and get his worthwhile question answered!

I think it's great that the admin voices the fact that you're in the wrong. He's not publicly announcing his powers. He's announcing that you are being inconsiderate.. Are you that embarrassed to try to say the admin is at fault?

To answer your question, will the CPUs still be available, yes of course. You can still get slot-1 pIIIs on eBay that are new. But know that the longer you go, the harder it is to get a boxed cpu as oppossed to a used/pulled cpu. I think you will be fine.

I doubt you will be able to, but you never know. Apparently Intel's roadmap shows a whole new chipset might be coming out.... so dont count on it
post #14 of 32
No Duel Core will require the new 955 chipset

"According to Mooly Eden, vice president and general manager of Intel's mobile platforms group, Yonah will carry 151.6 million transistors, integrate a 667 MHz front side bus and wll be built into a PGA478 or BGA479 package." - tomshardware

So I definitely cant use the yonah in the 9300?
Yonah is gonna need a new chipset, Calistoga, so no it won't work. Conroe is the desktop version of the mobile Dual CPU that should have 4MB L2 Cache per CPU for a total of 8MB cache. HT, 64 bit etc is all in there too. I would love to see mobile Conroes in the middle of next year. http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=24586

Yes, please do ban him. I have seen you do this before. It is uncalled for to be mean. This has been discussed before that if we didn't have people making repeat threads then the forum would be dead.

Arkenzo's frustration with the lack of forum readers using the search feature is shared by others and myself. It would be proactive for the moderators to come up with a solution that addresses the needs of both new and experianced users.
