Just got back stateside after being on tour. Want to report on the 7422 that this forum has helped me configure (I had bought a new fast internal hard drive, more RAM, and installed everything fresh).
AFter using the dual-boot system with everything from Wifi at airports, watching DVD movies, composing and recording original music and SFX for shows, using it to control digital mixers, and recording full-length archival audio from performances, I can report that the 7422 performed faultlessly! Absolutely rock steady, no surprises, no glitches. The build quality seems great as the unit does not feel flimsy even after surviving airport and transportation battering.
Now a friend of mine wants my recommendation for an audio laptop and I am tempted to suggest the 7510. However, I see that it uses a different chipset as well as PCIe video. I am not sure how compatible those are with certain audio hardware and software. Can anyone confirm if the Firewire and Cardbus are the same in the 7422 and the 7510?
Thanks all
