Jeeez...your still giving this creep the benefit of the doubt??
Sounds like a job for "Trollhunters"Let em know your problems with this guy, they'll resolve it if anyone can.
Seems like there's 3 of these type for every one of the good guys.Did he give you any referances or didn't you bother to ask??
Hope you resolve this to your satisfaction.

I'll send an email to trollhunters tomorrow, but what can they do?
look man, after seeing this, id definitely let him know that youre thinking of contacting law enforcement. I dont mean to be a jerk, but it sounds like youre being a doormat .
i hope you take some pics once you get this back, youll need em. trollhunters work like mediators i think, theyll help you resolve conflicts like this and worst case scenario they back you up when you contact the law.

I really empathize with you with your ordeal but I can't help but to think...does he have a heatware account and if so how was it. Do you have one yourself? Personally, I would not ship first to anyone first who has lower heat than me, especially an item such as your 9300. Secondly, if both of you have no heat, I would find someone who is an established trader who is willing to be a mediator or else use an escrow service. Best wishes toward a happy ending of your ordeal.

I have no heatware, but I have eBay (29 @ 91.4%). He has neither, but claimed to have sold some bike seats on that bike forum. So I looked at his posts on that forum, and although I didn't see proof of a transaction, I saw that he met up with some members, so I figured he takes this forum thing seriously. Yea, real stupid of me. Lesson learned .

In hindsight, his communciation even from the start was no good (prompt but a little fishy).

I e-mailed trollhunters. Waiting to see what they're gonna say.

Also, I got this e-mail from him late last night:

Quote:
Laptop will be there in the morning for sure, when u receive it email
me. also I am asking my folk to goto the bank for me to get this
other matter settled and I wil get that fedex also

I just the UPS package and I'm so f*cking pissed I can barely type.

This piece of shit just stuffed everything hapzarardly into the laptop bag.

There was bubble wrap barely on the laptop, both edges (front with the buttons and back with the vents and connections) were completely exposed.

Small scratches on the laptop that were NEVER there before. Laptop was shipped mint.

The letters I N S P I R O in ISPIRON are rubbed off at least partially. I and P are basically completely rubbed off. Laptop was shipped mint.

He put the quicksnap on for shipment, I haven't gotten it off yet, but i am almost positive there will be scratches there. Edit- no scratches underneath.

As of right now, the pieces that are missing from my package are the Kensington Fly Light (I realize this is minor in the grand scheme of things) Edit- Windows XP booklet with serial is missing.

There was a random burned disc of a game named 'Juice' thrown in the bag. WTF??

All this and I haven't even booted up the laptop. This was just a quick once over as I got the laptop less than 10 minutes ago. Edit- won't boot.

To hell with this scumbag. I'm posting his info. Hopefully the mods won't have a problem. If they do, I urge them to go the first page and trace all the shit I've been through in this transaction.

EDIT - address removed bc he has payed up.

I'm so pissed at this mother****er. Sorry for the profanity guys, but yourselves in my shoes.

I wish I had a digital camera to take pics of the letters and such. I may try to get one later tonight or maybe take it with my camera phone.

You could make a MSN Places account and use your cellphone to send the pictures to it, then save the pictures and put them on here.

After reading all these horrors i'm really getting concerned about selling my laptop here.

I just booted it up and got

"No bootable devices-- strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility"

This gets better and better. I think he said some BS to dell because now I can't access chat. It tells me I'm not a home/home office customer anymore. I've chatted a dozen times before with no problems.
that should like hell... a job for the troll hunters for sure... and i would be concidering contacting law enforcement on that one. i would defiantely be very angry in your position, profanity is absolutely excused in my opinion.

thankfully that does not happen too often around here. most deals that occur go flawlessly...but every once in a wile you get an (censored) who tries to pull something. proper precautions should be taken when selling and they will protect you as much as you can be protected...

I will do all I can to persue legal action. I'm not going to let this guy get away with sending my mint laptop back as damaged goods.

Anyone know how to check if all hardware is still inside the laptop, without going through installing all the drivers? I tried doing this in the control panel but a lot of things are listed with an exclamation bc of no driver.
dude, call the cops in his area . if that hasnt become PERFECTLY CLEAR TO YOU BY NOW IT NEVER WILL. you know you can transfer ownership of a laptop on dells website without the previous owners permission I did it when i traded my 6000 from gnrsl4sh
of course i told him about it, but it never told me that he had to do it or anything.
if he has your winxp key, youre screwed, check to make sure he didnt install a hard drive of a different capacity in your laptop. are you sure its even your laptop? check the service tag and stuff.
never can be too careful
i wish this went better for you

This is the best I can do with a camera phone.
None of the letters are completely intact. The N looks the best. The rest are at least partially rubbed off. The I is the worst. Barely even there. Did he scrub with windex? How the hell do you take the letters off??

Dam,If that dude gets away with this,I will personally KILL HIM!Yes thats a threat!
I feel for you. It sucks when something like this happens. In the meantime, make sure that a) he did not remove the RAM b) ths HDD is of the same capacity
post #39 of 159
yeah i would check all the hardware and all just to make sure he didnt screw around with it or replace it with something else. also make sure that it is even the same machine you sent him check the service tags...
any update so far dude? i've been reading this for awhile. i think he might've switched laptops on you. are you sure it's your laptop? if i had a relative or friend in SC i would send them straight to that address and see what's up.
