Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could offer some suggestions to me about an issue I have been experiencing with my laptop.
I have had a Sharp Actius PC-RD10 laptop since about january 2004, I have loved this big bulky beast and use it mostly for programming. However, during my last christmas vacation I decided to load some games on it to play while I was away from my desktop; specificially World of Warcraft and Everquest.
Everquest played fine, no graphics bugs or any issues whatsoever, but WoW had very odd problems (streaks of colors across the screen, messed up character models and world textures). I noticed the drivers I was using were from 2003, and are posted on sharp's website RD10 XP Drivers I downloaded the newest drivers from nvidia, but they didnt detect a valid card (I have a geforce 4 420 go 32 meg). I then downloaded the omega nvida drivers, which detected my card and installed fine.
After rebooting, during the startup and loading of programs my display went all "funky". I know that isnt a very good description, but the colors were very bright (pink lemonade bright). I reinstalled the old drivers, rebooted and everything returned to as it was before (including the WoW graphics bug). I then downloaded slightly more recent drivers from the RD20 driver section, installed those and they worked great with WoW, no distortion and no funky colors after a reboot. BUT everquest now has texture distortion etc.
Today I was playing around with it more (after leaving it alone for several months) and I discovered that when I have my display as an external monitor, and use the omega drivers everything is peachy keen, however when I switch to my laptop display the colors go funny. Sharp has no lcd driver posted on their website, and i was hoping somone could send me a monitor .inf from their sharp (if it isnt default plug and play like mine) or possibly suggest a fix / work around for this issue.
Thank you for reading my long and rambling post.
