Has anyone used Dell Preferred Account fincancing for their Lappy?

The current offer they have is no interest if you pay by Jan. 1st, 2007. I would just pay it off plenty before that, I just want to keep some money available for other things. Can anyone comment on a personal experience?

Not to make my point useless but I haven't. I almost did but didn't due to personal preference. I don't see any problems either way except that selling the laptop prior to payoff seems to create some ownership issues with Dell since I though about buying a second one but for someone else. Other items bought through a preferred account are fine though so I would imagine the same with the XPS.

If you qualify for the no interest promo, then it's a good deal. Just make sure you pay it off prior to the cut off day or you'll end up paying about $60 a month in financing/interest charges..

ya i am usin the finance thingy mine will be paid for by december even with the interest ... however if you just pay the minimum payment you will never pay your lappy off ... if your bill is like 50 dollars minimum payment ... pay like 500 lol and watch the interest go down

actually the interest on your credit card is prolly less than dell interest ... dell are loan sharks if you dont pay it off fast

how fast is fast?

With this 'bulking interest' till the cutoff on Jan 2007 where the payments suddenly spike, I don't see the danger. Just pay it off long before 2007 comes around.

I almost went with the Preferred Account option. I saw the interest was over 23.00% - and blood almost shot out of my eyeballs. I just decided to put it on my MBNA Individualized Bank Card from SunTrust. 1.99% fixed interest on purchases. Now, if I can pay it off in 3 moths I'll come out of this just fine.

Avoid PayPal buyer credit like the plague. Well, all credit programs except low interest VISA and MasterCards. I'm a student and I get 1.99% fixed on my SunTrust card, and 12.5% on my US Bank Cash Rewards card. Darn rewards cards, keeping interest high. If I wasn't a sucker for a random $60 check every 12 months that I had forgotten about - I'd ditch the card.

I used Dell preferred, but hardly anyone qualify's for the 0% interest promo. I planned on paying it off right away with a student loan, but life happened, and a year later it's gone from $1200 to $900 with $40 per month payments. the finance charges kill you!!! and they're just downright evil about late payments...

I did the Dell Preferred and got the 0% interest. I too will probably pay this off in the next six months or so, since I didn't want to have to worry about any interest.

I actually have a Platinum Capital One Card that is fixed at 4.9% interest for life and no annual fees. I was thinking about putting it on this card but decided the Dell Preferred was the way to go.

I used it when ordering a desktop once because they offered me like 60 bucks off and a $60.00 rebate for doing it. Then i just paid it off in full the first payment i saved a $120.00 bucks.Evry little bit helps ask them about aditional savings if you use the prefered account.

Used Dell preferred account twice and qualified for 0% both times. It's simple to use, allows online payments, and is really convenient as long as you pay it off before interest accrues.

A benefit of it is you get like an extra 8 or 12 % off your order, or at least I did when I ordered mine in June. It's basically like erasing the sales tax.

I got approved and got my card but can't order the m70 that i wanted because the comp is under small business, it sucks, i customized and everything, then when it came to checkout i found out i could not use it

Its a good deal. Just make sure you REMEMBER to pay it off...i made the mistake of forgetting it (i have a 72hour work schedule) and got slapped with $85 finance charge when the promotion ended.

CIT Bank administers Dell Preferred Account and this is just like other retail store credit cards that you are liable for any financial charges if you default your payments.

I aslo qualified for 0% from last round of DPA promotion and online payment is very easy. You can SCHEDULE your payment online on specific date to withdrawal from your bank account. That make sure you do not late on payment.

I just purchase my XPS GEN 2 about 1 hour ago and I got it with Dell's DPA and I got the 0% financing till Jan of 2007 otherwise I would have just put it on BOA Visa that I have @ 6.99% fixed for the life of the card cause I work at BOA. I plan on paying off the total balance in 1-2 months. However, I live in Texas and one thing we like to say around here is "Shit Happens" and I dunno if I break a leg and have to use money for something else. So I just kept my options open and flexible but I will pay that sucker worst case scenario before Jan 2007 so I do not have to pay all the Interest back from today.
I will set it up on my BOA Bill pay via website and put it automatic if I cannot pay it in 2 months just so I do not have late payments.
If you like to comment on my deal check my thread for is it a good deal or not in this forum.

You know, I haven't seen anyone post about the one other possible benefit to DPA--DPA coupons (which are usually stackable)...anyone?

Just curious, but is there a charge for making DPA payments online?

ok, someone had a hard time understanding this and couldn't figure out what it had to do with the financing.. I thought it was extremely clear, but, for whoever the person (and I use that term very lightly because they lowered my rep on it) is that did it, here's more... If you use the financing, there was (maybe still is??) a coupon you enter to lower the price a certain percentage. So, yeah, that does have something to do with it.. usually anytime anyone talks about a discount with dell it has something to do with a coupon..
