I have nothing but patience.

I am not sure how or even if you can monitor the spin rate on a hdd - as far as checking if something is going wrong I always found hdparm (in linux) to be a nice little util to test io etc. I have also written a dockapp that monitors reads/writes (wmdf) - sorry all these are linux but I work with what I work with

Wow, I see I'm pretty late to notice this thread, not being a frequent reader and all, but I hope a nice utility comes out of this. I've just recently had my 5670 overheat a few times, but mostly in a close quarters situation with other laptops and poor room airflow, so things just got too hot on our table. I also went and cleaned out as much dust as I could today, and have been playing wiht the temperature monitor for a few weeks, and it has been quite useful to see how my efforts to cool this thing down have been. Anyone have anything else I should do / clean to keep this thing cool?

At any rate, thanks for the fine work Henrik, and I look forward to whatever you have in store for us. (especially the fan speed management)

Wait, ive seen someone meantion their 4780 in this thread, its my understanding that your programs operate specifically with the intel chipset used in the 56xx/88xx models, and wont work with the SiS chipset in the 4xxx models. it also seems logical, since everything and its brother seems to dislike the chipset in my 4080 (linux, CPU-Z's memory reporting...), which as far as i can tell is used in all of 3 models of laptop at the moment.

i'd like to know a percentage that you have done henrik. 20%, 2% or 92%.... About how long left, or have you given it up?
If henrik doesn't want to continue the development, I'd be interested in continuing it, if he doesn't mind.

Of most interest to me is the ability to keep fan speed at a maximum for whenever or how long I wish. I use your Battery Saver program frequently and I find it to be very useful. If you need another 5670 owner to test out the software, I'd be more than willing. I thank you, Henrik; you're a shining star for Sager owners and many other programmers, I'm sure.

cool thanks man, asap i get my laptop 4080, maybe this could help a bit on the short bettery life.
can anyone send me thas batter saver program all the links to it don't work.

Same Problem

I tried the links too but they're not working? Can anybody list a working link?

Henrik - I will be happy to test your program on my 4080. Just let me know.
I know you already have a 5680 test PC, but I'd also be happy to test your software on my 5680.

I havent seen a post from Henrik in a long while, I think he's left the forums unfortunately

Had a lot of interesting information, then went poof.

fan speed control

I wasn't able to reach any of your posts. Is there some other possibility to obtain your fan speed controlling stuff?
nothing ever came of the fan control app. Henrik has stopped posting and has not replied to any other messages. It sounded interesting, but with all thing, too good to be true.

2. The only utility that can monitor the cpu temp on Sagers. See this post.
3. A utility to "downclock" the cpu to make it run cooler and save battery, by making use of the thermal throttling on-demand. See this post.

Now I have found a way to manually control the fan speed from software. The fan speeds can be varied from 0-100 percent, not only those steps that are in used in the stock firmware. However, some settings are better than others because at some settings the fan makes a chirping sound, which have been discussed in some threads.

There are 2 special applications for a fan-controlling software:
1. Decrease noise pollution, sometimes you accept a higher cpu temperature if the computer is more silent.
2. Full performance, when gaming for hours let the fans run full speed all time.

I can also make it possible for you to design your own cooling, define temperature trip points and fan speeds.

Now I'm thinking of combining the temp monitor, battery saver and fan control into one utility. I think this utility would work on all sagers and on all clevo clones. I have also found a way so you dont have to disable some acpi functionality when running the program. It will also include its own device driver so you dont have a separate installation for that and so you dont get the nag screen popping up.

So, I'm open for requests for extra added functionality, what else do you want to be included in this "hardware controlpanel"? I also would like to get ideas and suggestions for design and other comments are welcome as well. Yes, and beta-testers would be nice too. Keep it coming!

Henrik, For Some Odd Reason None of your link work..would there be a possibility of you being able to send me a copy of your program via aim, msn, icq, yim, or e-mail....thanks for Your Time......
