Where to Buy Hinges

So today I hear this loud CRACK and to my horror my LCD won't close, and after taking apart it turns out this little metal plate thingy that holds the rotating hinge to the LCD snapped in half, causing the plastic to bear the load and crack/break also.

This seems like a common problem from searching, but I couldn't find anything about the hinge specifically or for the 8890. Does anyone know if sager sells these little parts, or if not any suggestions on how/what to make a new one out of? This stupid thing is out of warrenty so I am pretty much on my own. Any help would be awsome!

Suggest a call to Sager is in order.

I have had the same thing happen to me...it sucks. Both of the metal peices broke, luckily the plastic only cracked on the right side. I, not wanting to pay the $200 or so to send it in and get it fixed, have "reinforced" the remaining left hand side metal bracket with pieces of a metal drink lid, i believe a sobe....not very technical, but for now it will save me that $200 since it seems to be working. I haven't figured out anything to do with the right hand side that completely broke off, but I will get back to you if i do. I love this computer, but has given me sooo many problems..arrgh. I'm on my third hard drive and battery and i bought the thing in october 2003.

Definately fairly common....same here.. and with chameleon paint job :<

I think it's 2 strikes and out for me on Sager... not sure what this 1's replacement will be when the time comes.. using it in a cardboard box is workable but not quite feasible for travel LOL
