C'mon guys, he was only trying to get some input as to what other people were thinking.

I'd change the processor to an mt-37, make sure the chipset/bios supported ddr400 and include that, change the hd to a 100GB 7200rpm model, and change the graphics card to an nvidia 6600 so that it had a prayer of linux support.

I think we have to go with the 7200. 10k Seagate Momentus still seems unavailable, and the cpu. Love the graphics card and particularly the dual boot concept. With the DDR 400, speedy HD, upgraded graphics and warranty, I would lay out the $2,500. I think it's a good price point. Buyer won't have to lay out money for at least a year or two. Well ... a pretty nice case is called for.

Hey FerrariDick

There is some method to my madness. I want to see what I might be missing in a few months by pulling the trigger now on a 4500. How 'bout that? I've seen some wasted pixels from you, but that was only my opinion and I left it at that. Maybe you should have a few more and calm down a little. Sorry about the misspelling. Maybe I've also had a few.

You know Ferrari from a certain point of view everthing is pointless.

He just wanted to have some fun thinking up cool machines. I dont think thats any more pointless then playing a game of poker or reading a good work of fiction.

I would say it has more of a point then watching TV or playing Go fish.

I think you make a point even if you think everything might be pointless. Look, from this discussion I have concluded that for 6 months the most changes that could occur on the Ferrari would be a faster hard drive and more ram. I doubt we would see a new video card or new new cpu at the $2000 price level. Well, I could handle the ram myself and if I really was flush I could take care of the 7200 rpm HD. I knew that the members of this forum would be the ones that had the imagination to point out to me what I might expect in the near future. Not sure that is pointless. In fact for me, I know it isn't pointless. I specifically asked for today's technology, not to speculate on what tomorrow's technology might bring.

Radeon XPress 200M chipset w/ integrated video and a Radeon X800 Mobility/Radeon X800 XT Mobility (though that would be new.)

Now that would be pretty damned sweet.

You Filthy Candian

Aren't you going to burn this machine up? Maybe we include an Hunter overhead fan? Why do you want integrated video and an 800?
The X800, although it would add weight and dimensions to the chassis, would give it remarkable graphics power...and if it could be turned off, then the integrated video would give it remarkable battery life. It's not a new idea, people have been punting it around for years, but nobody has ever made a notebook with that. :-/

Maybe after SLi notebooks. XD
