No, they are not

Horrible name... XP was bad enough, and lets not even go there with ME...
Lame name, but the name doesn't affect how it works. I'm hoping for a solid OS from Microsoft with this one.
It's definitely a step away from the non-implicative names they have used in the past; 95, 98, ME, 2000, (XP to an extent as well). Not sure if I'm a big fan of the pretty cheesy name.

Odd name, imo. They should keep up with the current name of Windows followed by a short indicator, so this could be Windows V. Just as good, but shorter.

What a crap name might as well be Windows Barbie Doll

"Windows Vista" = "Windows Puppies & Lollipops"

I don't like the name but the OS looks promising.

WindowsXP isn't a solid OS?

I wonder if there will be Home and Professional versions? WinVH and WinVP?

Ah well, at this point it looks like an expensive service pack.

i prefer the name Longhorn
I prefer Longhorn as well actually, but maybe that's because I'm more used to it. I'm going to try the beta CD when it's out on the 3rd, but other than that, I probably won't be running it. Anyone know if they're doing their license idea with this OS, such as you pay £x (or $x) for every month/quarter/year you want to use it, or something like that?

From the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

Main Entry: vis·ta
Pronunciation: 'vis-t&
Function: noun
Etymology: Italian, sight, from visto, past participle of vedere to see, from Latin vidEre -- more at WIT
1 : a distant view through or along an avenue or opening : PROSPECT
2 : an extensive mental view (as over a stretch of time or a series of events)

I am still not getting where they are trying to go with this name.

How about "Please learn how to use a computer?" If you know what the hell you're doing, Windows XP won't crash or get infected by viruses/spyware.

At least add "...and wait one or more months for the release of a service pack fixing an extensive list of glitches and a year or so for the newest version of the operating system, which will break another bunch of commands and leave out extremely useful software that came with every previous version." Mac OS X is nice, but it has its own problems.
