I am getting absolutly horrible FPS in BF2! I get in I'm in the middle of no where. I look around and I don't turn when i move the mouse left and right I lurch. Same thing when I try to move forwards. It is like it is 1 frame per second. My motherboard was screwed up on my new dell laptop, they fixed the problem by giving me a new one and installing it for me, and I havn't been able to play since then. I have installed new graphics drivers and chipset drivers. I ran 3dmark 05 and this is what i got.

bump, please help

wow, those are low fps in edmark05, something is up, not to make you look stupid, but is the laptop plugged in while you are running 3dmark?

-If you have installed the chipset drivers and graphics drivers and one of those where the isssue then you wouldnt be getting such low scores, I would say do a fresh install(reset your OS) and if that doesnt work, just call dell.

Edit*. By the way, I took for granted you had an XPS2, is that your system?
if what you have is a 9300(3dmark reads your card as a 6800go(no ultra)
you should try getting drivers from laptopvideo2go.com and you should try overclocking a bit too, it helps.another thing is, how much RAM do you have?, RAM makes a HUGE impact on BF2. 1GB of RAM in BF2 and it's still choppy for most people, I got 2GB and noticed 0slowdowns.

What driver have you installed ? That score is about right for an out of the box i9300.

Update you gpu drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com as entonos has already metioned.

Try the 76.50 drivers thats what i use, but there are newer ones to try too.

I get about 4300 without overclocking in 3dmarks 05

I think i site is down at the mo tho. And try installing the 76.50 drivers. Thats what i use and i get

Yes, I have it plugged in. Yes it is an i9300. No, it is not a 6800 go ultra. I have a gig of ram. I have a 2 gig processor. I have tried updating both the video drivers and the chipset drivers.

ive got the same specs as you enterest and im getting 3370 3d marks ... Thats at stock settings aswell... Anyone know how to get those 4200 stock numbers people are talking about

also, im using 80.40 drivers
3300 for a 9300 is normal stock...Thats not enough power to run bf2 smoothly...Overclock it to optimal settings, that should get you up there...Put it at 1600x1200 on low everything(looks crystal clear) That should be aok, when you upgrade ur ram to 2gb then you can set it at High everything and it will run smoothly!

Drivers I use are 77.62 they seem to run BF2 Optimally...80.40s dropped my FPS by 30!

Sorry but I'm not getting it
You say that the Go6800 is not enough for BF2 stock?
Damn.. what laptop should I get then!? no XPS

The 9300 is great at BF2 stock. Don't listen to that crap.

Well right now for me its not great. When I move around it seems as though I have 2000 ping. I have tried both on my network and others so I know it isnt the internet connection.
make sure your quickset is set to high performance
post #12 of 20
the 9300 set on stock video card settings in my opinion is no not enough to run any game in high mode smoothly...But once you overclock it to optimal settings it does just fine, then you just need 2 gigs ram and your set!
I just played for the last two hours on high, with stock settings, and had no problems at all. Frame rates were grate. Come to think of it, so was I! lol
post #14 of 20
Yea I bet 9300 stock settings 1 gig ram playing at High Settings no lag...You can't fool anybody here guy!
Enteres try a format if you have not done so allready to get rid of all the dell crap you dont want then run it again once your reset it back up but your not going to get to much higher score with a 9300, what sort of score were you expecting??
my 9300: 2 gigs RAM, OC'd to 315/630. Nvidia 80.40 drivers. 3DMark 3737. BF2- 1600 x 1200 *everything* on High, 4x anti aliasing, and Winamp blasting in the background. seriously, no slow downs at all. I'm sure you love your XPS 2 Rockinfella, but I'm more than happy with my 9300 (not to mention i only paid $1400 for it). Just make sure Dell quickset is set to perfomance, maybe OC a bit, and you should be fine. If you're still lagging, you got some other issue. When i had 1.25 gig, i stuttered at the beginning of every BF2 match but it went away. With 2, smooth as butter.

How overclocking friendly is the Go6800 card?? 315/630 should not be any problem would it? Many of the users here reach 375+/700+ .
Is this your highest overclock @Gregmattersen2 ???

thx

my problem isnt trying to run the game on high setting and getting slowdowns, It simply doesn't run on the lowest settings and lowest resolution. It just plays like i have 2000 ping.
The problem is that you need more ram. BF2 is very memory hungery. What you think is low fps is actually just an unresponsive game engine, because it has to swap out of the paging file.

Well again, it worked fine before they installed the new motherboard. My freinds pentium m 1.5 with512 of ram and a lesser vid card can run the game just fine in lowest settings.
