9300 Htpc

I have a 9300 and I use it for my HTPC hooked up to a 27" LCDTV. I use the external monitor with the laptop closed. It took me a few days of tweaking to figure out the only way to get this working for me was to use the 8040 drivers, any other driver would turn off the screen once I closed the monitor.
8040 has other problems, such as odd shading in Psychonauts, but overal works great.

What I want to do is setup the external display to be the only monitor on boot.
I can easily set this up after it has booted, using the Display Properties, or the CRT/LCD button. But it is too complicated for my wife. Is there anyway to get it to DEFAULT using the external monitor, not requiring me to change the settings after starting up? This might require some script running on startup, but I havn't done such a thing before, any insight would be useful.

I have thought about just leaving it on all the time, because when it comes back from standby it is still on the second monitor. But I think it would not be wise for me to keep it running 24/7, it might wear out years sooner than normal.

Hi!

I am using mine as a htpc. Try to set it up so that you use a program called powerstrip. Set it up so that everything works on the second monitor with Ps
turn of the laptop monitor. I dont know how that that is done with the nvidia I use the ati x300. Powerstrip can autorun on startup with windows and you shoul start exactly where you endet when you turned your 9300 off.

I didn't realize PowerStrip could do this, I knew it could help with custom resolutions, but not aply new defaults on boot. I will check it out.

HI!

I use my 9300 as htpc on my nec pg10. I when everything is set and the pg10 is my primary screen set perfectly with ps (and the laptopdisplay turned off) . I can shut the 9300 down and use it elsewhere as a normall laptop, when I come home, I plug in the pg10,turn on the 9300 and everything is htpc again.

I had some problems in the beginning because the ati x300m was not able to work with powerstrip, but the guys in Taiwan fixed that. At least for the ati catalyst 5.6 with 5.7 I still have some problems.
Lets hope that powerstrip supports the nvidia card.
