IE Options

Hello there,

I don't have the proper priviledges on this machine to check IE options to give you exact instructions. However, if I remember correct, in IE, go to Tools, then Internet Options. Once there, there should be to the right a tab with Advanced options or whatnot.

If you check those one by one, there should be one that toggles your problem on and off. I know because this happened to me too for no discernable cause once.

Cheers.

this is really weird, i go to a particular web page, on AVSforum.com and one page in their photo gallery for plasma tv's and its like it never loads the images, but then it triggers no images being able to be loaded on any other page i goto, if i restart and go to any web page besides that its fun, its like that web page screws up my image viewing after i go to it and it only....is that weird or what ?

Indeed

Yes.

Something like that happened to me too. Except even after restarting the images wouldn't show, so I had to go to the options to fix it. There must be a bug in there somewhere, or maybe websites are allowed to trigger such things. Who knows?

Cheers.

Well, it could be spyware? I don't know how a website would do that though. Do you have all of the update patches for IE?

It might be your ISP. If you're on your laptop and can try another connection, load the same page and refresh it. Then give them a friendly call =).

it still does it , just on that page !!!!

not spyware, i have run and cleaned with adaware

nit my ISP, why would all the other pages be fine?

go to avsforum.com

http://www.avsforum.com

go to the top of the pages.....

there is a drop down menu....

servies....photo gallery, and then when you get there

go to plasma displays, let me know if it trips up your all's machines

Yes, same here. On the first page, only 3 out of the 12 load and IE just hangs trying to load them.

then goto ebay

or newsok

and do images load correctly ?

Works fine for me

Either it works fine for me or I am not following along. No problems whatsoever.

It worked for me... I have the service pack for IE... do you?
Well, none of the 12 images load on that page for me. The way it looks seems to be some sort of server anomaly at AVSforum - a slow server, or one of the channels from that server to my ISP is having data throughput perhaps.

I have some images that don't load because I put a hosts file on my computer (that i edited from kazaalite) and if you have installed kazaalite or have a hosts file, you might have a problem too. They don't load because the urls that they come from are bounced back to me.

Just a thought.

Try tools, internet options, advanced, then restore defaults.

i did that but if i go nback to the web page and then continue to surf, it "wrecks" any image loading

i have to reboot, etc etc...

I know this is gonna sound obvious, but did you ever try not going to that site.

Guy: "You know Doc, it hurts when I do this."

Doctor: "So don't do that."

yes thats what i am forced to do, i just wanted to see by process of elimination, if its my machine or if it effects others also, it is not harmful, yet annoying only
post #17 of 20
Dan, it did it to one of my desktops also. When I went to other pages images were't loading correctly until I rebooted. I'm avoiding the site rather than try and troubleshoot it =)

Accounts

If you want to be able to look at said site without having to reboot, what you can do is set up a non-administrator account in your system.

Without the proper priviledges, the site can't do anything by itself. I think this is the reason why AVSforum.com works perfectly over here. I'm not an administrator, thus I can't change any Internet options.

Also, creating such an account for everyday purposes is good practice anyway, since a lot of the possible harmful effects of the internet and viruses can be reduced this way.

Cheers.

I am on my administrator account and I didn't have the problem... But your point is well founded. Especially with the crap going around nowadays.
