You realize that you'll only have acurate scores if the laptop is plugged in during the test right? Also check your Acer power management to make sure CPU speed is running at maximum. Lastly check your video card settings to be sure that Power Play is disabled. PP is basically a built in feature of the X700 to adjust power saving as battery drains. This is all that I can think of right now hope these tips helped.

I had it plugged in when I ran the test and my power play settings for the vid card are on but since it was plugged in it was set to max performance so not that im afraid.

Here are some real world test that I ran to give you a clue as to how slow this thing is running.

Firefox takes and average of 13 secs to load even if I close it immediately restart it.

AdAware takes 15 secs to load the first time and 7 secs to load thereafter.

flash mx takes 14 secs to load the first time and 5 secs to load thereafter.

photoimpact 10 takes 20 secs to load the first time and 10 secs to load thereafter.

bsplayer takes 30 seconds to load the first time and then 20 secs to load thereafter.

The one that suprises me the most is bsplayer because when I load it I am not trying to run a movie or anything im simply starting the program and it takes 30 secs to load and on my other computer it takes less then 3 seconds and my settings for the program are the same for both computers and my other computer is actually clocked lower then this one so I don't get it.

again if anyone can post there results/load times for any of the programs above then it would be helpful thx.

Looks like I fixed it (crossing fingers) I uninstalled norton antivirus and installed AVG (I know it's not as good but it's free and it's not a resource hog like NAV) and now things seem to be running better.
