256 x600?

*edit* image deleted.
Not sure if it'll be a problem, but the picture you posted has your windows CD-key? I think you should take that image off.

Btw, thanks a lot for the replies, I ending up going with the M60, really sweet machine.
leave the image just use photoshop to blur out your key cause you really dont want that to be public.

yes i got my m50 as well 2 days ago ,and its reading 256 mb too ive looked up system info pretty darn sure its not shareble with system ram...i guess they'd probably post mistakently on config website as 128mb ....it is very decent video card what has to offer on this slim notebook...can someone verify me if x600 is overclockable? because i think the core speed is pretty much bottleneck for 256mb ..come'on im gettin like 20ish fps in World of warcraft....with just everything on medium..
well yes you can oc it slightly but i really would not recomend going too far with it cause then you can fry your card and/or your mobo and that is not something toshiba will replace under warranty if you were oc'n it.
Since you only have 256mb of system ram it wouldn't touch that to share another 128 with the card (it might take like 32mb or so). To share that much I think you need to have at least 768mb system ram or so. So, it looks like they are sticking 256mb cards in there, Nice!

Over here in the UK, there are quite a few versions of the M50. After a bit of research, i found the M50-130 to be the best quality and spec, the price is also very good: £899.

It would be great to have feedback about this particuler model, if anyone has it??

I just picked up a m50 yesterday from staples. It has the celeron m at 1.5.It came with a 60 gig hard drive at 5400 rpm and 512 mg of ram and a dvd-ram drive.I added another 512 to make it a gig.Funny thing is the frame buffer is now available at 128 or 256.I didn,t buy it for gaming so that is really unimportant.
I am so far very impressed with the machine.I wanted a simple machine that was portable. The cpu is actually quite impressive and the fan only is audable when the cpu is under serious load like ripping a dvd.I burnt a dvd this morning and a kpropbe scan showed pi and pif errors under 10,very impressive for a laptop.I haven,t run any benchmarks but it easily keeps up wih one my desktops which has an athlon 1700+ running at 1600 mhz.
I hope the laptop keeps up with my first impressions.Anyone has any questions I,ll try to answer them.

I may be new here but you are aware that this thread is for discussing the M50 laptop?
sorry, yes i am aware of that but i really need some advice and i don't know how to start a new thread.that is why i posted here becauze it's new thread and it's about toshiba.
sorry again for disturbing
Just from the specs the FSC seems like a much better system. Not familiar with the brand though. How do they rate?

As for a new thread click on toshiba reviews and toshiba benchmarks.Near the top of the page is a blue button called new thread.Click on this button and you're at the new thread creation page.Creat a name for the thread that is informative but not too long.Fill in the rest just as you did to reply earlier. Then click on submit new thread at the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps,,either one of your choice is a smokin computer,,good luck.

Here's my breakdown:

Advantages of the M60:
->much better screen (WXGA on a 17" is very poor)
->1/2 Kg lighter
->marginally narrower, thinner and all around smaller
->better battery life

Advantages of the Fujistu Simens:
->Marginally better cpu (the difference between a 1.8 and a 2.0 will only be noticed in heavy cpu intense applications or in benchmarks)
->better gpu (although it doesn't specify, the M60 usually comes with a 128mb 6600, whil the 256mb 6800 not only has more ram, it's a newer generation gpu that will perform better in 3-d applications like games and graphic design. Neither will give you any benefit for watching movies or working in powerpoint).
->dual hdd's w/ raid options. This will give you MUCH more storage that is notably faster than using extrernal HDD's

All in all, I have to agree that the fujitsu-siemens looks more impressive performance wise for the same $. I haven't heard that much regarding the quality of FS machines, but what I have heard has been positive. However, if you're not a power user, you may be happier with a better resolution screen and shedding the 1/2 kg in the M60.

M50 x600 128MB or 256MB

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone can help me out.

I've decided on the Toshiba M50, thanks to reading your comments But am not sure which GPU config to get. Is the performance of the 256MB worth it, and does it reduce battery life a little or a lot.

Any help would be much appreciated
Extra ram in the gpu shouldn't affect batery life. The way I understand it is that it's the processor that affects it.
Ah, yes I see that makes perfect sense

Thanks gOOnter

the processor, hard drive, video card type, and to a lesser extent the screen (brightness levels and such) all effect the battery life as well as the performance of the notebook....

usually it is a trade off between performance/power and the kind of battery life. high power/performance systems use batteries faster.....

How is your Toshiba M50X-MX2 so far?

I’m in the process of buying one myself, after a lot of research and comparison.
Circuit City aka The Source has it for $999.00 CAD including a Canon printer, web cam and Word Perfect.

Intel Celeron M370-1.5GHz, 512MB memory,60GB(5400RPM) HD, DVD+/- Dual, 14WXGA. Wi-Fi,

I have heard and read that there is a Static Problem with Toshibas. I guess the casing is too tight and it is causing a ‘’short’’ which could affect your computer components i.e. hard drive, video card etc.
Has anyone experienced any of these? Especially the ones with Intel P4.

I decided against the Acer Aspire AS5002WLMi, because it looks to plasticy-cheap and the screen is too shiny. No Video out either. Good deal though for the AMD Turion 64 bit processor.

Your input and comments are appreciated.
thanks
