Z71v does not resume from stand-by/hibernate

Hello all,

My AJP Z71v has on the whole been great - my only ongoing niggle is the CLUNKA-CLUNKA of the mousepad buttons and that's trivial really

My problem is that for both hibernate and stand-by, my Z71v will not come back. I've now disabled hibernate - but with stand-by, when I attempt to resume (blue flashing power light - I press any key to resume, yes?) then she never comes back.

There's a short period of clicking and whirring but basically the screen remains black, capslock does not work, so I have to power off.

Now here's the really bad bit - when hibernate and standby do not resume, I can't reboot again. What in fact happens is, when the laptop attempts to boot, the screen is blank. It's powered but there's nothing there. However, everything is working fine except the display (I know this because my BIOS password is set and if I enter it, Windows boots but nothing is shown)

I've just gone through this - went into stand by. Power light flashing blue as normal to indicate stand by mode. Pressed any key to resume. Light turns on but nothing happens. Have to turn off laptop. When turning it back on, screen is broken. Tried 20 times turning off and on, but screen is off and Centrino logo cannot be seen. Left laptop for an hour, came back, Centrino logo visible and everything is working again.

Any thoughts...?

Dunno about the timing, but to get back from standby. you can't press "any" key. It has to be "ESC".

Have you tried disabling the BIOS password and putting it to sleep?
