Acer Aspire 1694WMLI - Quick input! - Page 2

Ok, I've got it now!

I have only used it for an hour or so now, and I REALLY love it! The only real draw back is the fast that I got 4 dead pixels on my screen, but they are barley visable and in areas that I usually don't spend to much time looking at. But I do hate dead pixels...

The screen quality is excellent, and the overall feel of the computer is great. I have yet to try games on it, but I'll do that later tonight.

All in all, a fantastic computer! Very much recommended

Guessed you'd like it !!

I paied £30 extra to have a Pre Delivery Inspection.
This included:

Check for dead pixels
Configure Windows
Install all Windows Updated
Install Anti Virus Software
Update Anti Virus software
Advance replacement for a faulty unit.

Didn't think it was a bad deal !!

TomT - Absolutley worth it! Would have done that myself if I would have had the oppertunity.

Anyways, I have just finished watching some DVD's and playing some Half Life 2! And man, I love this computer SO much! It's even better than I thought!!!!

Once again TomT, thank you for making this thread and helping me with my choice of computer! This one is pretty much perfect!

By the way, do you know if this is necessary?

"A note about the DVD, the updated firmware for it is a must, it halved the write time and made a much more readable disk for me so grab it straight away!"

I use Firefox as my web browser, But I found that the trackpad didn't work properly..

To get it working right I used these drivers:

After a quick look, it would appear that there is no firmware upgrade for my DVD.

Mine is a Matshita UJ-840D..

This link: From: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=15460
refers to a different model of DVD..a QSI DVD dual layer RW..

What DVD model is yours ??
TomT - Mine is Matshita as well...I thought it was already fast enough, which is why I was a bit unsure about the update-thing.

Speed of the DVD seems fine.. would have been nice to have it region free !!
TomT - Yeah...

Oh, and I just talked with the Acer Support and they said that they are willing to change my computer for a new one without dead pixel, so I'll see if I might do that, even though the dead pixels aren't really that annoying.

In Canada:
notebookdepot
NCIX
mymicro USA:
General link (too many to choose from) I can't seem to open links for Mexico. Basically the answer to your question, yes it is available in North America. If buying from Canada, do not pay more than 1800$ excluding taxes, most retailers will sell around 1690$

For my question now
I would like to purchase the 1694. I will mostly use it for photoshop and transfer my Digital photos on location so I can show my models (freelance photography on my spare time) on the spot. What I would like is for someone who owns this lappy to run the benchmark3 test for FFXI available here in High res and low res. If anyone can post results for those test, I would really appreciate it

Got it an luv it. I got the One with the Specs in my Sig. Really a cannon, bringin up 2900 in 3D Mark 05 on Omega drivers without oc`ing. Even the price was nice too. I am from Austria ( Where Schwarzenegger comes from ) and bought it for 1453 euro incl. shipping. Thats a really nice price for that kind of powerhouse.

@Kainskind:

Can you post somee pictures with the notebook running and the display on maximum brightness?

How is the fan when doing office work - can you achieve a non-running fan in office mode with the possible powermagment settings?

Have you tried overclocking the gpu?
Is there any benefit in having 256MB instead of 128MB VRAM?

Is there anything that bothers you yet?
I am considering to get the same notebook as you...
