How do I extend a 4760's battery length? Can I have two batteries inside simultaneously? Is there any solution? I want to be able to go for at least 2 hours without power...(I like to go to the beach and write music) Is this possible with the 4760?

Rig up a solar panel if you head out to the beach. A 12volt setup and an inverter rated for the panel output would be pretty good, and a small motorcycle battery to provide a constant voltage/current to the inverter for when the sun disappears.

I realize that this is old, but I just saw a battery at Best Buy that plugs into the power plug of the note book and adds upto 5 hours. It is rather large but the laptop sits right on top of it and is pretty thin. It alsp serves as a charger, and will charge your cell phone at the same time, for those who use it as their modem. It also plugs into the car outlet.

I don't think that "thingy" will work. Search and find out more as a there has been a lot of discussion as to why it might not.

decrease your screen brightness, throttle your CPU down (search for the utilities on this board for this), install CPUIdle to reduce cpu temps (reduce fan activity/power usage)

The battery is not to replace the old one, but its to suppliment it. I realize that the 4780 will draw more than the average notebook, but this will most definately help.

The A/C power supply/charger that comes with the computer says 20v DC. I don't know the minimum to run the computer, but might it not overheat (more) with a marginal outside source?
